After completing our beautiful Holy Spirit artwork last week, on Monday we wrote a diary of from on of the disciples. We described the wind and fire and how the whole thing made us feel! Then we read the letter from St Paul which describes the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We are beginning to understand that we can welcome The Spirit too and receive these gift given graciously by God. We continued too with the Holy Rosary in this special month of May.
GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION
We are studying the ENGAGE module of “My Happy Mind”. This is our final module. We have discovered that being really engaged and participating fully makes you happier. We also discovered that setting goals really helps us to achieve and engage. In class we set ourselves three goals this week and we really have smashed them. We’re going to set more for next week too.
What goal can you set at home- what would you really like to engage in and achieve?
MAGICAL MOMENTS OF LEARNING
We’ve had fun in English this week as we dived into the story of Aladdin. We have used two films and two different books. These sources have given us a lot to think about - Aladdin is a rather complicated character. He is fun and cheeky but also idle and mean! In maths we’ve been dividing and learning that the division symbol means “divide into groups of” this has helped us to solve problems using cubes and tiles. We also learnt that sometimes whole groups won’t go into equal groups and some cubes “remain”. In science, we’ve watched the seeds germinate and some children chose to take them home and others decided to plant them out into the garden to see how they got on outside. We have now set up a new experiment with bulbs! We have planted some upside down, some sideways and some with the shoot up. We are curious to see what happens! In PE we’ve started to practice athletics for sports day under the watchful eye of Mr Murray and Mrs Mather has loved art - we are a creative bunch! In computing we became composers as we used the computer to create musical sequences and in music (with Miss Woodend) we explored structure - what a great overlap!
LET’S CELEBRATE
This week our Curious and Active virtue star is Leo Price - well done!
Our Learning Award goes to Anabelle - Anabelle is so careful and observant - sometimes she spots things that others miss. Being steady and methodical is a great learning attribute!
