Year 1 Weekly Blog 19.9.25 - "Trust the present to God's love and the future to God's care." - St Augustine of Hippo

September 19, 2025 Clare Bassett

In RE this week we have continued to think about Creation and how God made all things GOOD. We have been ordering the creation story and have been reflecting on our Stewardship in school, how can we look after God’s good world…

In Prayer and Liturgy this week the listened to the Gospel from Luke 16:1-13. which we learned was all about being trustworthy. We can do this by following God and by making good choices, we have carried this message with us throughout the week, spotting acts of kindness in those around us.

We have also started Read Write Inc, and all groups have got right back into the swing of these lessons: remembering Fred talk, Fred in your head, and partner practise. It is so nice to see the children working cooperatively with their partner, helping one another and sharing a book together, it really is such a lovely way to start our day. Each teacher has been so impressed by their group and how well they have got on. Well done everybody!

Kidsafe - Online Safety

In Kidsafe this week we have been thinking about online safety and what to do if we saw something that gave us yukky feelings or click on something accidently. We were also introduced to the 'Watershed’ and why we have this, along with age ratings on things such as games and films.

Kidsafe - Letter - Lesson 3

Conversation starter

What is your favourite thing that God made and why? How could you help to look after it?

What should you do if you click on something accidently online?

Let’s celebrate!

Our certificate this week has gone to Hope for being a determined learner and trying your best in everything you does; well done Hope!

Our Star award for being learned and wise goes to Rupert. Rupert your actions and choices in school demonstrate your compassion towards others and our environment. Thank you for being a wonderful role model.

Message from Mrs Gregan

Whenever we start a new school year, we always have to migrate pupils and staff into their new class. This year, the technology that we use to do that has not been as successful for the teachers as it has been for the pupils. As a result, we have lost access to the Parental Consent forms that so many of you filled in prior to Induction Night. These have been deleted as groups have changed. Please can you spend another 5 minutes completing the consent form again this weekend. We are really confident with the information that we gathered before the forms disappeared, we just want to double check and make sure all information gathered is 100% correct. There was still some outstanding forms to be completed too. We are really sorry for the inconvenience and really appreciate you spending a little bit more time to ensure everything is as it should be.

Year 1 - Parental Consent Form
