Year 2 Homework To be handed in Monday September 22nd

READING

Please read with your child daily. The children now have their newly aligned ZPD and we are ensuring the books offer the right level of challenge. I have also set the children new reading targets which I will explain and celebrate in class. Regular successful quizzing is the key.

MATHS

We have glued into the front of each homework book your child’s password for Numbots. Please play in story mode at home. 5 minutes 3 times a week is perfect. I am able to see how much time was spent each week and how the child is doing - we can share this info at our first parents meeting in October

HANDWRITING

This week the film teaches the formation of the robot letters (over letters). At the end of the film there is a clear example of what your homework page should look like for this week.

SPELLING

This week I have taught the children how to play POPCORN. Firstly, write the words below on separate pieces of paper - then we screw up the paper and place them in a bowl we then chant - Popcorn popcorn popcorn pop! Then Popcorn Popcorn popcorn STOP. When we say stop we take a piece of popcorn out unscrew it read the word and then write it three times This week the words are all RED words these are the words we have to be able to spell before the end of year 2. You will notice that they all have an “ee” sound - but it could be one of the following phonemes:
