It has been a challenging week in RE. We have explored sin and repentence. It is not easy to reflect on the things we have done wrong. However we have discovered that we are loved by God -always and we can turn back to him at any time. We have also learned that sins and mistakes are different. We have learnt that stealing, being greedy (taking more than our fair share) and hurting others is a sin. You’ll be glad to know too parents that in the bible it tells us to honor our father and our mother. We now know that we all make mistakes and we all sin, but we know too that we can say sorry and turn to God.
I hope the children have placed their prayer card somewhere special. On Thursday they made a prayer card with the Act of Contrition on it and took it home to keep safe. If they ever needed time with God to say sorry they can read this prayer to help.
Thank you to Hector, Dee Dee and Mia - who led us in a beautiful worship on Tuesday. Their topic was New Starts and linked to our RE wonderfully.
GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION
We have moved on to the topic of CELEBRATE in our My Happy Mind lessons. We have been looking at out Character strengths and deciding what strengths we already have. Some character strengths need to be worked on - but our brain is brilliant at growing and we can always challenge ourselves to do the things we are lesson comfortable doing. What are your character strengths and which do you need to work on. It would be good to reflect as a whole family!
MAGICAL MOMENTS OF LEARNING
We started the week investigating what happened on 19th December 1903. The children were intrigued to find an envelope full of clues - Miss Lawton (student teacher) led the lesson and we discovered that on that day a plane flew for the very first time! We have continued to reserch birds in English and we’ve had a number of grammar lessons too. We now know that there are 4 different types of sentence: Statement, Question, Command and Exclamation -we’ve enjoyed spotting these in our learning. I’m so excited about our maths learning as we apply our understanding of addition and subtraction to difference and look for patterns in larger numbers. What is great to see is how the children are growing in confidence to explain their understanding here. We’ve dived back into My Happy Mind and our reading has been assessed and our ZPD’s changed. All in all a very busy week!
LET’S CELEBRATE
Our Virtue Star this week is Mary. Thak you Mary for sharing your love and speaking with compassion and understanding everyday

Finally, as part of our topic Amazing Birds an incubator with eggs will be arriving just before Easter. Hopefully these will hatch and little baby chicks will arrive. These little creatures will live in our class for 2 weeks. On the last day of term 2nd April we will hand them back to the company supplying them. However, if you would like to adopt a chicken and you have the space and facilities to house them you can have them for a fee of £5 (the company not school are charging). In line with DEFRA rules you will need to sign a form which guides you on their welfare before taking them. I have popped all this information on now, so that you have time to consider this offer.
Thank you - have the best weekend from the whole Year 2 team
