Welcome back! We’ve had a smashing start to the new half term! You will already know that we have started to stage our Nativity. The story of Christmas is at the heart of our RE lessons, which started with lessons on prophesy this week. We now know that a Prophet shares a message from God. Did you know Isaiah shared the news that a lady would have a son and he would be called Prince of Peace? We must thank Miss Jefferies who has been teaching us RE for the first time.
GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION
Today we had our first My Happy Mind lesson of the year. We learnt that the brain is made up of three parts. We have a little character in class called HAP. Can talk about the three parts of the brain with your mum and dad:
H - Hippocampus: Stores your memories and things you have learned.
A - Amygdala: Acts as your alarm system that reacts to danger through fight, freeze, or flight.
P - Prefrontal Cortex: Handles decision-making, analysis, and problem-solving.

MAGICAL MOMENTS OF LEARNING
We’ve had fun today. There were robots and ninja’s everywhere. We’ve been popping on and off Numbots throughout the day too! On Tuesday we returned and took part in our first enrichment session of the year - with Miss Edwards. While we were in Year 1 we took part in a STEM challenge. We had to make the tallest tower using hard spagetti and marshmellows - what fun. In Maths we’ve rocked some tricky part whole models and in English we’ve started a new book to inspire our writing! Last half term we studied Geography, this half term we turn to history. Please ask us what we now know about Grace Darling! PE and computing was great fun with Mrs Hunter and finally we’ve been in the hall staging the play!

REMINDERS
Wellies - Please bring wellies or outside trainers for the welly store outside the classroom. The field will be open this winter and the children will be able to store outsdie shoes in the new store cupboards.
