It was lovely to welcome everyone back and the children have all dived straight back into their learning.
This week the children read Luke 24. We learned how Jesus appeared to the disciples. They were frightened and thought the was a ghost. Jesus said “Peace be with you.” He put their minds at rest and filled their hearts full of hope. He then ate with them. Later he took them to Bethany were he ascended into heaven. Before he left he explained that they would be witnesses to all they had seen and heard. He also said the he would send them what “the Father has promised”. The disciples returned to to Jerusalem filled with joy. The following day we watched a drama in which the upper room was filled with fire and wind. We used this to inspire our Pentecost art works. These picture now decorate one corner of our classroom. Aren’t they wonderful!
GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION
This week we started our new “My Happy Mind” topic. This half term our theme is relate. The children have learnt that we relate to different people throughout everyday. How we interact with them helps us to build postive happy relationships. We investigated 10 different ways we can interact in a postive way. Ask your child to see if they can remember any of the ten - I’m sure they can!
MAGICAL MOMENTS OF LEARNING
In English we’re exploring persuasive writing - specifically persausive leaflets, written for exciting places inviting us to go and have a great day out. After sharing places we have visited and writing about these, We read all about the -Sealife Centre, Dizzy Rascal Play Park, Landmark Dinosaur Park and Martin Mere. We have also collected words which we think make the writing exciting and persuasive. In maths we’ve continued to explore multiplication specifically the relationship between the 5 and 10 timetables. In Geography we learned about the Masi - the children loved this! In DT Mrs Mather started us of with ideas for our windmill project. We created pictures in computing with Miss Forster and we said hello to Miss Brookes. Miss Brookes is our new student teacher and she has had a lovely time getting to know us all.
