Year 5 Weekly Blog 01.05.26- 'Mary shows us that God accomplishes great deeds through those who are most humble'

April has certainly flown by and by some miracle- We are in May! In RE, we have continued our work with learning about the apostles and their apostolic mission, in particularly ‘The Apostles Creed’. We have been analysing dogma by dogma to really understand the meaning of the statements and how that reflects with our Catholic beliefs.

Learning has continued to flow this week, particularly in Maths as we are flying through our fractions unit, with this week us looking at unit fractions of amounts. We have begun to plan our first discussion text write up by creating arguments and finding research about ‘Should all children learn how to swim?’

Children have continued to show their creativity in our gymnastics unit of balance movements with apparatus, by showing some excellent teamwork skills.

Conversation starters

RE- Can you remember what you chose for your badge for the Apostolic Mission, what would your parents choose to do in order to keep this mission?

Let’s Celebrate

Virtue Star of the Week: Our virtues for this half term are attentive and discerning. This week our star goes to Alana. You are just so discerning Alana, particularly when out on the playground. I always see you playing with different people, in order to make sure everyone is involved. You are always making sure your friends are okay and are helping resolve situations- rather than be at the center of them.

Learner of the Week for being a focused and enthusiastic learner goes to Louisa. Changing Maths/English places, along with base camp places, can make it difficult to focus with new learning partners and potential distractions. You have shown that this does not affect you and your level of focus remains the same throughout these changes. This has given you more confidence with your learning and you are seeing the results.
