Year 2 Weekly Blog - Friday 18th September " Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan" Matthew 18

What a wonderful week! Together we have explored forgiveness through prayer. Then in RE we reflected on the obediance of Noah. He did not have to be asked twice by God - he did what he asked. Then on Thursday we reflected on the world - once flooded and now full of beauty. In fact we realised that the Earth is God’s precious gift to us. Pope Francis asked each of us to be stewards of the earth. A steward is someone who looks after the planet. Then we listened to one another as we came up with so many different ways in which we can help look after our beautiful planet!

CONVERSATION STARTER

In our Kidsafe lesson today we reflected on interacting with technology. We can end up seeing or hearing things on TV, radio or on the computer (ipad) that can give us “yucky” feelings (scared, sad or worried). We have reflected on what to do if this should happen to us - find your trusted adult. We also talked about firewalls and protection set up by adults. You may want to explain how you do this for them at home. Please read this letter so you have more detail about the session.

MAGIC MOMENTS OF LEARNING

I think my favourite session of the week was a writing lesson. The children had to pretend to be the Giant in Jack and the beanstalk. They wrote an email to the police telling them about all the things he had stolen - what a super focused class. We have drawn maps in Geography, started adding tens in maths and we’re simply rocking the “ee” sound in spelling. Mrs Hunter got our computing lessons underway and she loved gymnastics on Wednesday. Mrs Mather praised the whole class for their creative art and today we started our science topic - “Living Creatures and their Habitats”

LET’S CELEBRATE

It is really tricky to select one child as our star - as we are a very compassionate and loving class. This week the STAR goes to Arla. Arla watches and waits, and because of this she notices who needs help and then she simply reaches out without anyone noticing - but Miss Foster and I did!
