Wyre & Fylde B Team Football Competition taking place at Poolfoot Farm, Thornton Cleveleys on Friday 21st November 1:00pm-4:30pm

Given the information below, and the 35 minute travel time, please collect your child at no later than 12 midday from school. If your child can bring a packed lunch on Friday, they can eat in school at 11:45am. Plenty of snacks and fluids for the afternoon.

  • ARRIVAL - Please allow plenty of time to travel and parking at the venue. Parking is limited at Poolfoot Farm so you may well have to park on adjoining roads and walk to the astro turf pitches. As you will see from the fixture schedule, we have lots of games to get through so games MUST START ON TIME OR WE WILL RUN OVER There will be a team manager briefing in front of the children's play park at 12:45pm ready for our first games to kick off at 1PM PROMPT! The later we start, the later we finish ;)

  • FIXTURES & FORMAT - All fixtures and results will be accessed via the Tournify link at the bottom of this email, please share this link with your wider community as parents can then monitor your teams progress remotely. Please note that the times of the games are a GUIDE and will not be gospel however, we will be making every attempt to stick to the timings on the day. All games will be 10 minutes one way and teams will be 7 a side with an unlimited squad and substitutions. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE WEARING SHIN PADS. We will be adhering to the no heading rule at this event and will go through the ruling of this at the team manager briefing.

  • THE GOOD OLD BRITISH WEATHER - Please keep an eye on the weather report and pack accordingly. The event is due to take place on astro turf so the surface will not be an issue however, should we feel that the elements will have too much of a detrimental effect on participants experience of the event then we will make a call the day before the event..........so if you don't hear from us, take it the event is going ahead! We have attempted to maximise the use of pitches and minimise waiting time accordingly so please dress warm, particularly in-between games and be ready for your next fixture.

  • SMILE AND ENJOY! - This event will be officiated by young leaders so please ensure you, your players and the parents representing your school show their support.

Year 6 Football A Tournament

As the boys will probably have told you tonight, we have had to withdraw out entry to the football tournament next week. Unfortuantly, the date for the tournament has now changed to the Friday of next week, due to venue issues, which clashes with the bikeability course that is already booked in for them. With it also being Day 2 when they will be out and about on the roads around school, this has to take priority and something that they have to complete.

There will be other opportunities for the boys to play in the Spring term and more tournaments to enter so we will hold out for that. I am sure amongst their other footballing commitments, this is something that can be passed for now. I know arrangements will have been made so I can only apologise; it is just something out of our control.

Please see below which match your child will be playing in and where the match will be. Games will need to start promptly so please collect your child and take them to the school their match is at.

Sporting Fixtures for Autumn Term

Training is underway and after meeting with PE leads from across the cluster last week, the fixtures are ready to go. This year we are operating slightly differently and having mini tournaments instead of a running league. We have been put into a tri-fixture with other schools near us. We will be playing Heyhouses and St Thomas’s meaning two fixtures on one night, instead of consecutive weeks. This will then be repeated in the Spring term. All of the dates for the fixtures are below. Each tri-festival will be played at Heyhouses - please get the children there as soon as you can after school. The event will finish around 5:15pm.

Teams will be published on Monday so that arrangements can be made for the following weeks.

There is also additional football tournaments this term, which you can see below. We ask for parents support with transporting the children to these events. They are well ahead of time, so pop them in your diaries now.

You will also see that there will be a Year 4 Football Festival. We are really trying to broaden our offer in the cluster. This will be after half term. More details about training etc will be released nearer the time.

UPDATE - B TEAM FOOTBALL MATCH

We have just heard that Heyhouses are unable to produce two pitches for next Tuesday’s match therefore both teams will still play, just one after the other at Heyhouses school so do make your way there. Both matches will be played at Heyhouses. Please do stay to support each other if you can.

4pm v Heyhouses: Gus, Sean, Seth, Rory, Toby, Finley, Tommy and Louis

4.30pm v St Thomas: William, Isaac, Heath, Albert, Hugo H, George C, Myles, George L, Fletcher

Both teams are entered into the tournament on Thursday 21st November.

Autumn 1 Extra-Curricular Timetable

With a new school year comes a new timetable for extra curricular opportunities. If you click on the button below, it will take you to the timetable. Please do check the starting dates for the clubs as some of them differ. For the children in Year 5 and Year 6 who will be representing the school team, fixtures will follow. There is a cluster meeting next week where the format will be decided but we are probably going to be moving towards a mini-tournament approach, rather than weekly fixtures. This will allow more children to take part and represent the school team. Once this has been decided, I will let you know dates.

St Peter's Charity Football Match- Friday 27th June

St Peters school are hosting a charity football match on Friday 27th June in which both ourselves and St Bede’s have been invited to take part in. The match is due to start between 3:45-4:00 and the event will finish around 5:30pm. The event will take place on the field of St Bede’s High School (which is also shared by St Peters)

This is an optional invitation but we would love to bring enough children to take part and help make this a memorable evening. A large full football match will be played with rotating teams throughout the match. This a call out to everyone who is currently in the school football teams this year- Boys A Team, Boys B1 and B2 and Girls team.

If enough people are interested, there is a possibility of there being a parents game as well! (Teachers included).

Children will be picked up from school as normal at 3:20pm and will need to be taken to St Peter’s. There will be food vans and stalls so you may bring some money with you if you wish. Children are to be wearing their school football kit and they will need boots, shin pads and a drink. If you do not have a school football kit, then please wear blue clothing or any blue football kit.

We will play an hour long game with it being split into 4 x 15 minute games. Each team will play 15 minutes each e.g Girls, Boys A , Boys B and parents.

Please take the time to read about Patrick’s story and complete the form below if you are interested.

‘We are raising money to celebrate and honour the life and legacy of our beloved friend and coworker Patrick McCready.

Whilst working at St. Peter’s as our site supervisor, Patrick undertook the role of Girls Football Coach due to his experience and passion for the sport.

Every week, he would take to the field to coach the girls, and take them to their matches with other local primary schools.

However, his love for the game was not just saved for his beloved U11s team. It was a mainstay of our school. From chanting songs with the children on the playground to talking to pupils about the weekend’s results, Patrick’s love for football was clear and he shared it with all.

As such, in his memory, we will be raising funds for Rosemere Cancer Charity. This will take place through various means but will culminate on the 27th June, when we will be hosting a football match in his name.

This will allow our school community to celebrate his life, his passion and the impact he had on so many of our pupils.

All funds raised will go to Rosemere Cancer Charity, a cause close to Patrick’s family, supporting vital cancer care and services in our local community.

Please donate what you can and help us make a difference in Patrick’s name.’
