Year One Weekly Blog - 11th July

Magic moments

RE

After learning all about the Jewish festival Sukkot, the children designed their own Sukkah’s that they could celebrate inside. This week the children used their designs to build their own Sukkah’s! They worked brilliantly in teams and were very creative!

English and Maths

All of the children completed their own creative writing stories this week, using capital letters, punctuation and connective words. These stories were written independently and the children have done a great job! I am so impressed children and so is Mrs Hotchkiss!

In maths this week we have been learning all about directional language - up, down, left and right. We also learnt how to give and follow directions.

Ridgeway Farm

Oh what a day we had at Ridgeway Farm! Not only the children, but the adults who came loved this day. The children were free to just be wild and adventurous and it was a lovely thing to see. We split into groups and fed lots of different animals, we learnt all about their food and their jobs on the farm. We explored the fields where Farmer Helen has grown some crops, we discovered the orchard and ended our day with a yummy ice cream to cool us all down.

Lets celebrate!

Our certificate winner for being a brave learner goes to.. Poppy! Well done!
