A sad start to our new term. We have all been saddened by the death of Pope Francis on Easter Monday. It was only fitting as we returned to school on Tuesday that we began the Summer term with a dedicated prayer and liturgy, led by Mrs. Gregan. We have opened a book of condolence for both staff children and parents to contribute.
Before we broke up for Easter we welcomed the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes into school. We have celebrated this visit by praying in the worship area and painting the statues this week.

We have been practising sports day, enjoying a costa coffee and so much more this week!
Drawing club:
This week we read The Smeds and the Smees, ask you child if they can remember the actions and what the words mean?
Another week of excellent sentences, our favourite was creating our own pet for Janet and Bill and giving our pet a name. We wrote My pet is called… Our handwriting keeps getting better and better. Encourage writing as much as possible at home, by asking if your child can help you write a shopping list, go on a hunt, writing about your week, making a book. Keep it simple and make it purposeful for your child.
The Smeds and Smoos vocabulary:
Martian: the name for creatures that live on Mars.
Outer Space: the area outside of Earth.
Countdown: counting down to zero from a higher number, 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0
Blast off: when a rocket or spacecraft launches and takes off from the ground to go into space
Accelerate: to go faster or speed up.
Hurtled: to move with great speed and often with great noise.
Plummet: to fall down very quickly and suddenly
Voyage: a long journey, especially one by ship or in a spacecraft.
PE: we have been practising our sport day races this week, myself and Miss Forster were so impressed with the relay race.
Forest School:
I am so sorry, it has been a very busy week so I forgot to send home the timetable, it will go home on Monday.
Due to parent sessions and to give the other year groups an opportunity to experience Forest school, our timetable has slightly changed. Everyone will have 3 sessions for the Summer term. Group 3 will have 4 sessions as they are catching up on the session they missed last half term.
We have been very lucky to have Forest School regularly this year, Miss Lavelle has worked very hard and planned some wonderful sessions for the children.
Next week it is Group 3 and Group 1

Don’t forget come into school in forest school clothes and bring uniform in a bag for after.
We have loved Costa Coffee, I have mutiple drinks made for me each day. A huge thank you to the Cassidy family who have given us a coffee machine for our shop. It is amazing, I think I was more excited than the children to use it.

Show and Tell:
Thank you for the show and tells this week, they have been lovely. We have loved hearing about your trips celebrating achievemnts and seeing your wonderful crafts.
Please look below to see which day your child can share their show and tell news. We love to celebrate each child’s achievements in class. So we use show and tell as an opportunity to share things that they are proud of, or to share something that is important to them. Great show and tell examples are: sharing photos, bringing in certificates or medals, a souvenir from a trip out or something that they have made at home.
Important Reminders:
Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too.
PE
Our PE days are Tuesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.Art T-shirt
Please can you bring in an art T-shirt, if you haven’t already, these help us keep uniforms as clean as possible.Jumpers: please can you check that your child has brought the right jumper or PE jacket home, they can easily get mixed up when bags are being packed, there are a few missing in class, thank you.
