Reception Weekly Blog 26.9.25 'I belong to God's Family'

’ God made me, God loves me, I belong to God’s family’

We had a lovely liturgy in the chapel on Thursday with with Nursery, we are learning about how we become a member of God’s family through baptism. We made the cross on our heads and said ’ God made me, God loves me, I belong to God’s family’. It was a lovely start to our day.

Conversation starter

Each week we will give you a question that we would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.

Who have you been playing with at school this week? Whos else could you play with?

What have we been learning this week:

Phonics: our sounds this week were ‘d’ (short sound duck), ‘i’ (short sound igloo), ‘n’ (nnn) and ‘p’ (soft sound popping)
Can you write ‘d’’ , ‘i’ , ‘n’ and ‘p’ at home this weekend? What are the rhymes? d- ‘round his bottom, up his tall neck, down to his feet’, i- down the body, dot for the head, n- down Nobby, over his net and p down the plait and over the pirate’s face.

The QR codes for the videos have gone home today scan to watch them at home. Reading books will go out next week as I wanted you to focus on learning the sounds first this week. It has been lovely to hear the children talk about watching the videos at home, thank you I have attached the QR codes below just incase yours has gone missing.

Thank you for those who have sent in photos we have enjoyed looking at the photos and talking about our families this week, if you haven’t already please can you send me a photo so we can share them in class,

I’d also love to know what your child’s favourite book is or if you have a family favourite. You can email me or write a note. Thank you

Kidsafe: In this session we discussed about bullying what it means and what we can do if we see something. We have talked about the importance of telling an adult so we can help, we can say stop if we hear that we need to stop.

Art: Today we continued our The Dot theme and used pipettes on two different media, paper and cotton wool to mix the primary colours, can you remember what they are? What colours did they make? We will finish this lovely artwork off on Monday.

Forest School:

What a lovely afternoon, we explored our Forest school area and enjoyed God’s wonderful world by making our own nature bracelets.

Let’s Celebrate:

Well done to our certificate awardee: A ‘Cooperative Roger Robin’ you are such a good role model in our class and support your friends.

Important Information and Upcoming Events

Important Reminders:

Parent’s Day is on Friday October 24th - a great chance for us to have a good chat about how your child is doing. This year, we have two options - we can meet face to face at school, or you may choose to have an online Teams meeting with me. Please fill in the form below indicating which you would prefer, then we can block out the day appropriately.

Visit to Church: We are visiting Deacon John in church on Wednesday 8th October leaving school at 10:10 to arrive at church for 10:30, where we will learn about Baptism and what it looks like in church.

We really encourage parental/Grandparental engagement so it would be wonderful if we could have some adult helpers. If you are free and would love to join us please can you send me an email. Please note mobile phones can not be used around the children or to take photos of the children. There will be school iPads and photos will be uploaded to the blog.

Stay and Plays:

Our stay and play sessions will be on Friday 7th November 9:15-10:15am and Monday 10th November 2:15-3:15pm. These were the most popular days but so it is fair, I will change the days for the next sessions in the Spring and Summer term so that you can all get the opportunity to come into school. Grandparents and other family members or family friends are welcome to come if you are unable to. Please can you fill in the form and let me know the best day for you.

Forest school takeover day: Our day will be on Friday 14th November there will be more information when it is closer.

  • Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too.

  • PE
Our PE days are Wednesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.
