Year 3 Weekly Blog Friday 1st May -“May is the month of expectation, the month of wishes, the month of hope.” — Emily Brontë

May 1, 2026 Lesley Hotchkiss

his week our word of the week was Queen of Heaven. We prayed the Rosary together and learned how to sign the Hail Mary, helping us to reflect more deeply on our prayer.

In English we collected powerful vocabulary and used it to write descriptive sentences about Boudicca, before creating a detailed character profile. We then began to apply these skills by inventing our own characters in preparation for writing our own stories. We have continued exploring fractions. We learned how to recognise and understand the numerator, denominator and division bar, and how these help us to read and write fractions correctly.
In French, we continued learning about classroom equipment. We matched pictures to sentences, using our knowledge from last week to help us understand and recall key vocabulary.
We labelled the parts of a flower and learned about pollination, understanding how pollen is transferred from one flower to another as part of the plant reproduction process.
