'She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus'

Matthew 1:21

We ended our week outside our chapel, to sing a miracle in town as part of our RE. We learnt about how children in different parts of the world celebrate Christmas. In Iceland a tradition they have is to sharing books with loved ones on Christmas Eve. We have done this during advent in school. It also linked with our Understanding the World Family traditions, it has been lovely to see and hear how you celebrate at home.

Each week we will give you a question that we would like you to think about and discuss together at home. This could be over dinner time as a family, at bedtime, on a walk or even in the car. However you choose to discuss this question is up to you, but the idea is that it will help to give an insight in to what we talk about in school, help children to understand more about themselves or others.

Conversation starter:

How will you spread joy to others during advent?

What adventures have we been on this week?

Drawing Club: We read bear snores on linking to our hibernation topic and we wrote our sentences: I can see a den. The bear is not up. I was so impressed we used our sound mats to help us find the tricky words and find the sounds.

Set 1 sound mat

Ask your child can they remember the vocabulary and the actions at home?

Bear Snores on vocabulary:

Creeping: moving slowly and quietly (action: tiptoe across the room)

Whirling: spinning or swirling around (action: spin around in a circle)

Flickering: light that moves quickly and softly (action: wiggle fingers upwards to the sky)

Tremendous: Very big or powerful (action: Stand tall, arms stretched wide)

  • Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too.

  • PE
Our PE days are Tuesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.
