"The roots of learning may begin in Reception, but the journey of discovery lasts a lifetime."
What a lovely final week we have had together in Reception!
We started the week by watching the Year 5 and 6 performance of Robin Hood, and it was a huge hit with the children. They especially enjoyed trying to spot the Year 6 children who have been helping us in class this half term and were so excited to see them up on stage.
This week, we also explored our final country in our Up, Up, Up and Away topic – Brazil. The children loved learning about the Amazon Rainforest and comparing it to the Indonesian rainforest from our focus story, ‘Rainforest Explorers’. We talked about the different animals that live there and discovered lots of fascinating facts along the way.
On Wednesday, we attended the Year 6 Leavers' Mass at church. It was a lovely opportunity to come together as a school community, reflect on the year and celebrate our wonderful Year 6 children as they prepare for their next adventure. The children listened beautifully and enjoyed joining in with the prayers and singing.
Thursday was all about celebrating! We had our end-of-year Carnival Party, and what a fantastic morning it was! The children enjoyed party games, lots of dancing and even showed off their Samba moves after practising with Miss Goldstone.
It has been such a fun-filled week and the perfect way to end a fantastic year together!
As we reach the end of a wonderful year in Reception, we wanted to say just how incredibly proud we are of all the children. Their hard work, curiosity, enthusiasm and sense of fun have made every day a joy. They have approached each new challenge with excitement and shown a real thirst for knowledge, growing in confidence and independence throughout the year.
It has been a privilege to work alongside each and every child, getting to know their unique personalities and watching them grow, flourish and achieve so much. Every day has been a new learning journey, filled with memorable moments that we will treasure.
Whilst we are sad to be saying goodbye, we know the children are more than ready for their next adventure and will absolutely love being in Year 1 with Miss Edwards and the rest of the team. We are excited to see all that they will accomplish next year.
We wish all of our families a safe, happy and restful summer holiday filled with lots of special memories.
Miss Edwards can't wait to welcome the children into Year 1 on Thursday 3rd September at 8:45am.
Let’s Celebrate:
As always at the end of term, the children voted for who should receive the certificate and star awards:
Co-operative Roger Robin - Your classmates have chosen you to receive the Co-operative Roger Robin Award, and what a fantastic choice they made!
When your friends voted for you, they shared; “Martha always helps people,” “She makes me feel better,” “She is always kind,” and “She is always a good role model on the carpet.” What lovely things to hear from your friends!
Martha, I couldn't agree more. You are a caring and thoughtful member of our class who always looks out for others. Your kindness, helpfulness and positive attitude make our classroom a happier place to be everyday. You should feel incredibly proud that your friends have noticed these wonderful qualities in you.
Whole School Virtues - Curious & Active: Bonnie - your friends voted for you to receive the final star of the year and I most definitely agree with their reasons. Your friends have shared that you are always kind and can be seen making sensible choices. You ask questions to find out more and are an active learner, with your friends spotting that you always work hard. Well done!
Have an amazing summer!
God Bless
Love from your Reception team:
Miss Drummond, Miss Woodend, Mrs Summersall, Mrs Krol, Mrs Ely and Miss Goldstone.
