Year 3 Weekly Blog 27th June

Worship We have taken it in turn this week to lead our class prayers in our houses. On Thursday we heard how Saints Peter and Paul are two wonderful saints and we are celebrated them. We heard in the Gospel how Jesus asked his friends a question and Peter gave a great answer. Greg helped us understand that both Saints Peter and Paul didn't just know who Jesus was in their heads, they knew it in their hearts. We then invited Jesus into our hearts when we prayed and sang 'Follow Me' with Sr Chiara.

Our learning this week…

English We have continued reading The Spider and the Fly, we’ve picked out tricky words and found their meanings. We’ve made synonym webs….spider webs full of synonyms for words found in the text. We used purple mash to make synonym quizzes challenging our friends to find the word that was not a synonym.

Maths - We’ve made a great start on our fractions unit of work, looking at part and whole and recognising that a whole is made of parts .Parts can be even or uneven. When splitting shapes into parts we recognised that some parts could be even, even when they are different shapes.

Spelling - this weeks spelling are more homophones: weather, whether, heel, heal, he’ll, accept, except, affect and effect. Spelling quiz will be 30th June.

French - We used french dictionaries to find the french words for some animals, we also looked at whether the words were masculine or feminine because we knew that this would affect whether it had the determiner un or une.

Conversation starter…
