As we head into the month of October we have been talking lots about Mary, as this is the month of the Rosary. Our Prayer leaders have led us beautifully in prayer as we have said the first decade of the rosary together. Over the next month we will be saying the Rosary regularly together, if your child has a Rosary at home they are welcome to bring it in to use when we pray the Rosary. As a class we have made a giant Rosary to put up on the board in the corridor outside our classroom. This week we have also made some little flip up Earths with hearts on, when you lift the flap you can see all the wonderful gifts from God we treasure the most everything from Pandas to stars.
Our learning this week…
English
We have been writing our own Paddington chapters and including all the grammar skills we have been focusing on this unit - noun phrases, subordinate clauses, speech and conjunctions. The children have worked so hard, I’m looking forward to reading them all over the weekend.
We finished reading our class novel, Paddington by Michael Bond. On Friday we enjoyed a short story by Michael Bond called The Tale of the Castle Mice.
Maths
We have looking at way of composing and decomposing 100. We know that 100 can be split into 2 equal groups of 5, 4 groups of 25 and 5 groups of 20.
RE
We have written letters to younger children in the school telling them about Pope Francis’s letter Laudato Si - we’ve explained that we are not taking care of our common home as well as we should be and that if we carry on this way we will ruin it for future generations. We have given them advise on what they can do to take care of our planet because we know that it is everyone’s responsibility.
French
We had great fun making our own cat finger puppets and then practised all the French phrases we have learnt so far. I wonder if the children could teach you the rhyme?

Swimming
Our swimming stars this week (As chosen by the swimmers teachers) are: Rhys and Seamus
Both girls were chosen for their fantastic listening and efforts during our lesson.
Conversation starter…
In computing we have been talking about connections and networks.
We know that a connection is a link - we showed this by making links (Holding hands) and making connections across the classroom. We the went on to making a map of who we are connected to - mums, dads, aunties, uncles, brothers and sisters etc
We then went on to change those connections to networks - our personal network.
Can you make a network diagram with your family? How many links can you make?

Our learner of the week is Annabelle
You are a fantastic learner Annabelle, as a class we always enjoy listening to your ideas. You often think outside the box and give us alternative ways to think about our learning. Not only does this show your deep understanding, it enhances your friend’s learning too. Keep up the great work Annabelle, you are wonderful.
This half term’s virtues are Learned and Wise.
Our Virtue star this week has been awarded to Reyan
