Year 4 Weekly blog. Friday 23rd January "Whatever gifts and talents we are given by God ,are to be shared with the entire community." (St Baldwin of Canterbury)

January 23, 2026 angela lyons

It has been a very reflective week in year 4. In our Happy Mind sessions this week, we have thought about our character strengths and how we can use them for the benefit of others. In worship this week, they listened to the story of Jesus calling His first disciples and how we can become disciples of Christ. Also, on Tuesday, Marla, Elsie and Jacob led a lovely worship all about Jesus healing Peter’s Mother in law. They are deepening their understanding of their own beliefs in RE as they reflect upon the catholic statement of belief - the Nicene Creed. This is perfect as they will soon be on a sacramental journey towards Reconciliation and then Holy Communion. I have put dates below - please email me if there are any issues.

Also this week, we have delved further into Shakepseare whilst also developing our oracy skills. Children have learned the skill of probing when listening in a conversation. They have been reading much of Shakespeare’s writing independently and actinigi t out too - complete with ghost! Children have learned about digestion in the mouth - in Science and the Water Cycle in Geography.
