It has been a week of resilience and of real achievement in Year 4. We have seen the children’s faith in action, with Jesus working through them. Kim from Streetlife visited our class on Wednesday - the children spoke to her about the items collected for the foodbank and out big beach walk. They presented her with all these items and special pebbles they had made on the beach for homeless people - reminding them that God is carrying them through their troubles, like the poem, ‘Footprints.’ They also presented her with a cheque for £229.91 raised on their sponsored walk. Children asked so many questions about the charity. Many children said they just wanted to give more and it was beautiful to see their compassion for people more unfortunate than themselves at such a young age. In worship this week, children have been inspired by St Paul and how they can use his strength and passion in their own faith and lives.
Children have also had a lesson about ‘Changing Bodies,’ this week. They learned about the different changes that happen to boys and girls as they grow into men and women. Children were really mature and asked many questions - they many have some for you. In the next session, pupils will explore the miraculous nature of human conception and birth. With the underpinning knowledge that we were handmade by God with our parents’ help, children will go on a journey to discover how life is created in the womb. (sexual intercourse is not discussed in this session)
In other news, children have been busy learning more about fractions and revising aspects of maths learned this year. In English, they have been studying Viking myths and they are now writing their own. On Friday, we had a visit from the ice-cream van - a special thank you from Mrs Gregan for getting through this hot and sticky week!

Who are the marginalised? Why should we help them? What did Jesus do?
Let’s Celebrate
This week, our certificate winner is Dexter - for being a reflective and perseverant learner. Dexter you have really been making careful choices and you have been an excellent learner this week - really giving 100% focus and not giving up when we have done tricky things.
Our star virtues this half term are Curious and Active. This week, it goes to Jude Cu. for being a fair member of the class who tries so hard to make kind choices towards others. You actively practise being like Jesus. In class you show a good example, no matter what the circumstances or how hot it is!
