What a lovely first week back in school. In our worship this week, we heard the gospel of the sermon on the mount, where Jesus taught us who the blessed people were. This led to a lovely discussion about the importance of realising we need God in our lives to guide and love us. Also to try to be pure in heart and gentle in our words and actions. In RE we looked at how we can be inspired by Abraham’s faith, hope and love to be good members of our school and wider community. Children made links between this and the qualities we admired from the kind characters in our novel -which is what our assembly is based on.
In other news: we have been learning the skill of rounding in maths- homework is based on this. We have started our exciting chemistry topic in Science about states of matter - so many interesting conversations about what the world is made out of! Children did some wonderful descriptions of each other in French and ranked the characters in Charlotte’s Web from kindest to least kind, justifying their opinions with reasons. Assembly practice is off to a good start too!
Conversation starters:
Science
What is matter? What is mass? What is volume? What is state?
RE
How can we strive to be pure in heart?
