Today we had our final Student Council Meeting of the year and said goodbye to our council. Each child shared how they have found their experience of leadership and there were some lovely reflections, including the quote above by Jasmine. It has been a successful year as the council have seen their Children’s Choice Wednesday implemented, an initiative which has resulted in increasing lunchtime numbers across the week. Children have enjoyed having ownership of food choices. They want to continue with this initiative in the new academic year and already we have a large selection of suggestions with waffles being the current firm favourite, especially for Ryan who would like a little chocolate sauce with his!
Thank you children for being such a pro-active group of children who have problem-solved throughout the year to help Our Lady’s run smoothly!
A memory to treasure...
After the fabulous performances this week there is now a recording of Peter Pan available. A leaflet will be coming home tonight for orders or it can be accessed here. All orders must be received with money by Friday so that we can place the school order. Please don’t miss out!
A Recipe Book to Enjoy...
Family Favourites - a recipe or two!
For the last half term, the Year 6 children have been working hard with Mrs Curtis to produce a family recipe book . The children developed the book to be created and sold in the hope of raising more money for Brian House. They have been moved over the year by the trauma many families go through at these difficult times and have been moved to action. There is a PDF of the book attached here; as an ECO school the children felt that it would not be in the planet’s interest to start printing off lots of copies and therefore they decided that an online version would be best. So they are now asking for a ‘reading donation’. In other words by opening it up and reading you are committing yourself to send in a donation, no matter how small. If you want to make a donation to Brian House, please send the money in with your child next week. Every penny will make a difference to the life of another. Year 6 and Mrs Curtis would like to say thank you in anticipation of your generosity.

This afternoon, the school choir went on a short visit to Stella Matutina Care Home. They began by singing them a few songs, ranging from a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang medley to the war time favourite ‘We’ll meet again’. The children spread so many smiles and so many commented on how much of a credit the children are to the school. After singing, we all then sat down to play a game of dominoes. Thank you Choir - your hard work and dedication showed tremendously. You certainly brightened up many of their days with several residents asking if we could stay forever!

As part of our outdoor and adventurous curriculum, the whole school took part in some caving and archery this week. The caving proved a big challenge for some and a lot of resilience was needed. All of our children had a really good go! When it came to archery, we definitely have got a few Robin Hoods in our midst! Please visit each class page for further images of the day!
