Well … Christmas is here, and what a term it’s been! I couldn’t be more proud of the children. They have adapted to new school routines seamlessly and have taken everything in their stride. Being together with only our class bubble hasn’t always been easy, but the children have shown what resilient and kind young people they are. I also want to say a huge thank you to you, our Year 2 families! You have been so supportive in the strangest of times and your children have continued to grow.

Wow! We made it to the end of term and what a term it has been. This week has been so much fun as we have come together as a school family but still safely in our class bubbles. The whole school online nativity is beautiful and the nursery nativity is adorable, if you have not seen it yet, head over to the discover page and the nursery page for a real treat. Thursday saw all classes having their special Christmas parties and of course a tasty Christmas lunch, prepared by our cook Jacqui and her team. It’s been a different celebration this year but one we won’t forget and one that brought us all closer together.

Although we have not been able to share in our celebrations as our whole school family this week, our class has felt like a family. We have been taking care of each other, still working hard but having so much fun too along the way!
This week has seen us complete our lovely class nativity - portraying the Three Wise Men’s visit (see school blog) Then we had a fantastic time on Tuesday, taking part in our Danceathon in classes and also, by request on the playground too! Thanks so much for all your kind donations. So far, our class has raised £122.00 for streetlife! We’ve even had some Christmas French.
For English, we have also been studying this Christmas poem. The children have loved learning it and putting it together. Enjoy!
Thursday was our Christmas party day and what a jolly lot the children were! We played party games in class such as good old musical chairs and our special secret santa game. A beautiful Christmas dinner was shared by all. Then time for a movie and some popcorn too.
The children were astounded when a video appeared on our screen of Santa in our class - he delivered presents to all classes around the school! Many theories were flying about - How did he get here? Why didn’t we see him? All very exciting!
Let’s Celebrate!
This week a Lizzie Ladybird certificate goes to Saul for making so much improvement this last term. A Sadie Spider certificate has gone to Max for being so determined to meet his reading target and improve his spellings. A Bobby Bee certtificate has gone to Mason for often doing his own exciting poems and stories to bring in for us all to enjoy.
20 children have met their reading target this half term! Excellent Year 4. We are very proud of you.
PE stars this week were John’Joseph for getting into spaces and confidently calling for others to pass to him. Also Lena who did some amazing interception to get the ball in basketball!
Your children have all worked so hard this term and have each overcome so many obstacles. The class feels like a big family, growing in trust and love for one another. I have loved helping them to grow and learn and look forward to the new year to teach them again.
But as we are all exhausted, all that is left to say is have a lovely Christmas and a good rest. Best wishes and God bless,
Mrs Lyons, Mrs Mather and Miss Forster.
The beauty of Christmas is not in the presents, but in His presence.
What a week to finish a fantastic term! We couldn’t be prouder of the way the children started and settled in these unusual times. Each one of them has shown enthusiasm, kindness, friendship and progressed in so many ways!

I know everyone has been waiting for today and to be able to watch our Nativity. The children have worked extremely hard and taken their roles very seriously. I hope that sharing our Nativity will bring the true meaning of Christmas in to your homes.
Please sit back and let the Christmas spirit enter your hearts.
I am sure that you would like to join me in thanking Clare, who wrote this wonderful production and Colette, who filmed each scene. Also, our thanks must go to Mrs. Gregan who edited each image, song and video so beautifully.
Finally, on behalf of the whole nursery team we would like to say a huge ‘ thank you’ to you all for your wonderful support this term.
Have a happy and Holy Christmas and we will see you in January.

THIS WEEK WE ARE USING COMPUTER BASED LEARNING.
This week’s homework should be completed by next Thursday please. Many thanks.
No spellings this week—we didn’t want to do a spelling test on party day!
Reading:
Read at home every day. You can quiz during school time when a book has been completed. Are you nearly at your target? Could you read a little bit more this week and try to reach it before the end of term?
Please remember that you should all be selecting books from the class library within your ZPD to read at home and at school. You may also choose to read extra books from home but these should be within your ZPD please.
(Parents: Don’t forget you can check on your child’s progress on Accelerated Reader - this will let you know which books they have read and quizzed on and also their progress towards their reading target.)
Maths:
IXL maths using the IXL website. Please complete any of the units E, F, G, H, I or J (addition and subtraction) How many of these units can you complete?
Purple Mash:
Create a magical Christmas tree picture using the 2Do that has been set. What will your tree look like? Have fun. Don’t forget to submit your tree so that I can see it.
Use the 2Do that has been set to create an acrostic poem about Christmas. Can you use you senses to help you write sentences that describe what Christmas is like or means to you?
“Kindness is Free, Sprinkle that Stuff Everywhere.”
What a lovely week we have had in Year 3. It has absolutely flown by but has been filled with the buzz of learning and the excitement of Christmas preparations and our Christmas Jumper Jog too.
We would like to say a big thank you to you all for your donations for our Christmas Jumper Jog - all monies will be sent to Street Life, a local charity doing such an amazing job supporting homeless people in the local area. The children all looked lovely in their Christmas jumpers and we had so much fun running around the playground at every opportunity we could get. (We were really lucky with the weather too.) We also made some beautiful cards to send to Street Life to give out over Christmas. Well done children.(See the attached photos below.)
We have continued to be busy with all of our learning this week. Have a look at our photos to see some of the things that we have been doing.
Let’s Celebrate:
This week our certificates go to Franek and Charlie. Both boys received Enthusiastic Bobby Bee certificates. You are both becoming so enthusiastic and eager to do your work. It is so lovely to see your smiling faces and your enthusiasm. Keep up this wonderful Bobby Bee Buzz. Well done boys.
We are delighted that Rosa, Alexander, Matilda (again), Betsy, Ruby-Lilly (again),Nicola (3rd time - WOW!!!!), Leo (3rd time—WOW!!!! and Charlie have achieved 100% of their reading targets this week. Well done children. I am so proud of all the reading that everyone has been doing. You are all doing an amazing job. I know that there is another group of children who are so close to reaching the top of the rainbow and will achieve their target before the end of term and I am sooooooo excited. Well done everyone.
Well done also to Molly-Ann who received Jacqui’s Marvellous Manners Certificate this week. Manner are so important and cost us nothing.. Well done Molly-Ann.
Things to Note:
· On Tuesday 15th December we will be doing our annual Danceathon. This year it will be slightly different as we will not be able to do our early morning playground dancing but we will be able to do our dances throughout the day as we usually do. Also this year we will not be raising money for school based projects but all money that we raise as a class will go to our class charities, so the money we raise as a class will go to Street Life. We are asking for £1 donation (single coins again please) rather than the usual sponsored event. Children are asked to wear their PE kits and trainers on this day.
· Our Party Day this year is on Thursday 17th December. Children can wear their party clothes on this day and can bring a treat (chocolate bar or a packet of crisps) and a drink (not fizzy please) for their snack on this day. This year our parties will be based in the classroom but we will be having lots of fun and playing party games. (Please remember that children will be playing out at playtime and will need their coats and sensible shoes.) We will also be enjoying our school Christmas dinner cooked by our lovely Jacqui on this day (or packed lunch if your child has packet lunches—maybe you could try to make this a bit Christmassy!! Thanks)
· Please can I remind you about the Home School Agreement form. If you have not yet completed this form please complete and submit it asap. We are still awaiting responses from a number of families. Many thanks.
· Please make sure that you look at the home learning page for this week’s home learning. This should be completed by next Thursday. This week’s learning is COMPUTER BASED. Many thanks.
· We break up from school next Friday 18th December for Christmas. Marsden and Harcourt 12:45pm as usual. Bamber and Plessington at 1pm as usual.
Thank you for all your continued support and co-operation this throughout the term. Another successful week!
We hope that you have a lovely weekend and have a chance to share some time together as a family.
Take care and stay safe
