Year 2 Homework to be handed in on Monday 13th November!

Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading Hansel and Gretel last week - it was a great story with some very tricky new vocabulary. I have selected 6 words for us to learn and try to use when we write. I was delighted today when a member of the class described Florence Nightingale as “shrewd” a word we learnt last week!

This week we have a creative homework!

ENGLISH TRADITIONAL TALES - Let’s get creative

I would like the children to make puppets this week. I have given the children four lolly sticks. Using these sticks can you make the puppets for the story of the Three Billy Goat Gruff. We have read the playscript in class so we are all up to speed with the story.

READING

Dear parents,

The children have not been quizzing in school for over a week. Sadly, the school AR platform is not working (we are on it). We have recorded all the books that have been read and need quizzing on and we will catch up. We have also made sure everyone has swapped their books. Despite this, please continue to read together every night. Thank for your patience.

MATHS

We have focused our number knowledge on the value of the numbers depending on their position- for example 73- “ this is the number seventy three, the number 7 represents 7 tens and the 3 represents 3 ones”. Using this knowledge please complete IXL B4 and B5. I have noticed three children haven’t completed the units set yet - if you’re having difficulty please let me know.

SPELLING

Mrs Hotchkiss took over the spelling quiz for Miss Bassett this week and missed some out some words! Needless to say, the children corrected me. I will be very careful next week.

This week adding the suffix y but dropping the e this time!! Please find the spellings in their homework book - they are also here on the button below

Have fun - books returned to the red box next Monday
