“No one has ever become poor by giving” Anne Frank
This week in Year 5, we reflected on the Gospel of the Wedding Feast (Matthew 22:1-14), which reminds us that God invites each and every one of us to follow Him and be part of His family. Through this parable, the children explored how we respond to God's invitation through the choices we make, the words we speak and the actions we take each day. As we celebrate Harvest, we also reflected on the many blessings we enjoy and why it is important to help those who do not have enough food to eat. The children considered how raising money and donating food can make a real difference to families in need, showing kindness, generosity and living out Jesus' call to care for others. The parable encourages us to say "yes" to God's invitation by sharing what we have and helping those less fortunate. It is not too late to donate cereal boxes for our local food bank, so please send them into school next week. All donations are gratefully received.
Thank you to our wonderful children below for leading us in liturgy and prayer this week, on a wonderful reflection on Mary…
MAGIC MOMENTS…
What a magical week we have had in Year 5, filled with deep learning, curiosity, teamwork and thoughtful reflection! In Maths, we have been developing our confidence when using column addition and subtraction with decimals, carefully lining up the decimal points in the correct place value columns and using regrouping strategies when subtracting. The children have worked incredibly hard and shown great resilience. In English, we have begun planning our narrative writing ready for next week, and I have been so impressed by the creative ideas, imaginative characters and exciting plot twists the children have shared. I cannot wait to see their fantastic stories come to life! In Science, we have been exploring changing states of matter and learning about solutes, solvents and solutions. The children thoroughly enjoyed our practical investigation and demonstrated excellent scientific thinking throughout. Ask your child if they can explain what a solute, solvent and solution are and give an example of each. They were brilliant scientists this week and have certainly impressed us with their enthusiasm and knowledge!
GOING DEEPER IN CONVERSATION
What is the difference or the connection between a solution and a mixutre?
LET’S CELEBRATE
Loving and Compassionate Stars
This half term we will be on the lookout for all the children that stop and notice how others are experiencing their lives, and how they feel, and why they say and believe what they do. Ultimately, it is what makes us kind and, at a deeper level, opens up the possibility of being loving through our just and merciful actions and forgiving words. This week we thank Wren for always being compassionate and loving with others.

Most people have booked thier parent appointments now. If you have an apponitment via teams please expect an invitaition to the video call early next week, I will use the email addresses you have used to email me about appoitments unless you tell me otherwise.
