“You are precious in my eyes.” - Isaiah 43:3
Welcoming the children on Tuesday was the biggest joy! My, oh my, did they blow our socks off. They were fantastic, and what really shone was how much they wanted to look after one another. There are so many emotions flying through us all when we start a new school year, and what became so clear throughout their first day back, was just how deeply they care for one another. They were so excited to see each other and share what they had been up to over the summer! We really have had the most wonderful week starting our Year 1 journey together.
We have looked carefully at our school mission statement, “You are precious in my eyes.” Isaiah 43:3 and how we can live this mission statement each day in school. We then created our class rules, which are all about looking after each other and our school.. “Be kind” was the children’s first thought. We have also been busy getting used to new routines and have even created a class list of jobs, every child has an important role to play!

This week, as part of our HRSE curriculum, we have introduced our KIDSAFE lessons. Please click on the link below to see a letter which provides more information regarding our KIDSAFE curriculum and the discussions from our first lesson.
Coming up
Induction night - Wednesday 10th September
We have two induction times 3:45-4:30 and 4:45-5:30. Please do try to make one of these times as we will be going through many things such as homework, reading books, the curriculum that your children will be delving into this year, along with having the chance to ask any questions you may have and to have a little look at the classroom. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
Mass on Monday
On Monday 8th September we will be walking down to church to celebrate Our Lady’s birthday and our new school year. You are most welcome to join us! Please meet via the main entrance ready to set off at 9:15.
Things to remember
PE days are Monday (Outdoor) and Thursday (Indoor). No jewellery is to be worn on either of these days.
Please make sure everything is labelled as this really helps to make sure things don’t get misplaced, including water bottles. Could I ask that those with girls cardigans please check you have the correct ones. We have one new cardigan misplaced. Thank you!
Snacks - we are now a plastic free school and are asking for your support with this. Therefore all snacks brought in should be brought in a reusable container which your children will bring home each day. Thank you for this you have already been amazing organising this!
Art T-Shirts - in school we have the art cover up that you provided for your child in Reception. I will pop these on their pegs on Wednesday’s induction evening. You can then have a look to see if their art cover up is fine for the new school year, or whether they have outgrown it and need a new one.
Medical and Consent Forms
Please complete the below forms as soon as possible so we can ensure we have all the correct and up to date information for your child. Once we have the consent forms completed we will be able to share some pictures to show you what we have been busy with so far in year 1! Thank you for your continued support.
We hope you have the best weekend!
