This week...

Wow what a scorcher!! Summer has arrived with gusto! We have managed to find shade on the top garden underneath the trees, so that is where we have spent our outside time, albeit for a shorter length of time than usual.

The children have loved being sprayed with water at regular intervals and splashing around in the water play…it really didn’t matter how wet we got!

Worship

This week we have continued our final branch, ‘Dialogue and encounter’. Our key words this week were PICTURE, DIFFERENT and WORLD.

Jesus came for everyone, all around the world. We looked at a picture of our wonderful world and some images of Jesus from different places. Some children told us about their pictures:

“Hello, my name is Gabriel. I live in Nigeria. This painting of Mary and Jesus shows them with dark skin like mine and wearing special African clothes. Our pictures often have lots of bright colours and patterns”.

“Hi! I’m Maya from India. In my country, we sometimes show Jesus with brown skin and wearing clothes like a sari or a kurta. Our pictures are often full of flowers and pretty patterns to remind us how special and kind Jesus is”.

We had some discussion cards to help us think about how we are all different and special. We put them in the middle and turned them over to see what they said:

Describe what you look like.

What is your favourite colour?  Why do you like it so much?

If you could have any pet, what would you choose?

What makes you a good friend?

What job would you like to do?

Where do you live?

Next week we will hear from two children from Mexico and Australia.

We ended by singing this song to the tune of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ – why not sing it at home:

Jesus came for me and you,
And for all the people too.
In the cities, by the trees,
Over mountains, over seas.
Jesus loves us, everyone,
We are part of God's big plan!

Our child led worship on Thursday focused on St Paul. We watched this video: click here We noticed that Paul used to have a different name. He wasn’t very nice to Jesus’ friends but then after a special event he changed his name to Paul and dedicated his life to Jesus.
