Year One Weekly Blog - 13th June

Magic moments

RE

In RE this week we looked deeply into the Catholic Church - what is it? Where is it? What do we as Catholics do every day?
We looked at our own place of worship - Our Lady Star of the Sea Church and drew it. We also wrote some lovely sentences about what it means to be a Catholic.

English and Maths

English this week has been all phonics focused - lots of games, lots of writing and lots of co operative and independent learning. The children did great, tried their best and you should be very proud of them!

In Maths we looked at doubling and halving, what does this mean? How do we do it? We know that both parts have to be an equal amount. Test your child and see if they can remember. Today we looked at addition equations using 10 and a bit, and I have to say I was blown away at the quality of work! The children were so independent I couldn’t believe how well they just got on with it.

Sport’s Day

Wow what a fantastic afternoon we had for sports day, thank you so much for coming along to support the children. They worked fantastically as a team and worked their little socks off to be the very best they could be.
