“It is in the human heart that God’s kingdom take root and grows.”
Pope Francis
This week we have been thinking about how God loves all people equally. We have looked at our school mission statement: “You are precious in my eyes” Isaiah 43:4 and how we can make others feel this through our actions. There have been many a card written and lots of stickers made for others!
Conversation starter
Who will you make feel special this weekend? Could it be someone in your family… a friend in school .. or someone in need?
What have we been learning this week:
Transition!
On Thursday our wonderful children made a special visit to Year 1. Miss Bassett, Mrs Hartley, Miss Forster and Mrs Hennessy were so excited to get to know the children a little more and the children were busy spending the morning making their new classroom their own. Each child was full of confidence came back into Reception full of smiles, excited for Year 1. We are so proud of you all, you have grown into such confidence children who look after each other and see the best in one another!
Our Butterfly release!
We have had great excitement this week when we released our butterflies! The children cheered each butterfly on as we watched with such delight whilst our butterflies took to the sky! One or two were quite attached to us all in Reception and didn’t want to leave, but we gave them lots of encouragement to help them on their way. We then studied the chrysalis’ with great fascination!
Maths and Phonics: We have continued our own story books about, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Who would have thought a tiny caterpillar would be able to eat so much? It has certainly kept us busy during Drawing Club throughout the week! We’ve written about pears, plums, strawberries and oranges! Who knows what he’ll eat next? In maths we have been exploring 5 and a bit. On Monday we learnt a song about some rather cheeky cats… “5 little cats were jumping on the bed, one fell off and bumped his head…..” Reception can you remember the rest of this song?! These cats will not stay in one place and we’ve had to use our quick thinking brain to see how many were still on the bed. However, on Wednesday more cats arrived, not many but a few more. The children had to think about how many cats there might be now. The children were fantastic at this and quickly came up with the amounts six, seven and eight. We’ve then focused on the structure of numbers such as: 6 is made of 5 and 1, 5 and 1 make 6… 7 is made of 5 and 2, 5 and 2 make 7. The children are so number confident it is a joy to see!
Friday FUNday: what a lovely day we have had, we watched Thelma the Unicorn and had our own ticket booth, thanks to Mr Heyes. We have enjoyed dancing, playing with the parachute and even had a visit from Miss Forster’s tortoise. Thank you for your donations we have raised over £100 for our chosen charity ‘Little Hearts Matter’.
Let’s Celebrate:
Well done to our certificate awardee: for a excellent week in phonics you are learning lots of new sounds well done.

Show and Tell:
Please look below to see which day your child can share their show and tell news. We love to celebrate each child’s achievements in class. Great show and tell examples are: sharing photos, bringing in certificates or medals, a souvenir from a trip out or something that they have made at home.
Important Reminders:
Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too.
PE
Our PE days are Tuesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.Art T-shirt
Please can you bring in an art T-shirt, if you haven’t already, these help us keep uniforms as clean as possible.Jumpers: please can you check that your child has brought the right jumper or PE jacket home, they can easily get mixed up when bags are being packed, there are a few missing in class, thank you.
