‘The first day of school is the first step in a great adventure’
Anon
Wow what a great start to our first week in school, it was lovely to meet you all and I have been so impressed with how well the children have settled into our class.
These first two days have been all about developing relationships with the children, settling in and getting into a routine.
What have we been learning this week:

Important Reminders:
Thank you for filling in the medical and consent forms, if you haven’t or if anything has changed please fill them in.
Photographs for Pick up
Thank you for those who have emailed photos to myself or Mrs Nel, if you haven’t please can you email me photos, ensuring that names and clear photographs of the adults who are permitted to collect your child from school are sent to Miss Drummond These can be emailed to d.drummond@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk
Clearly labelled uniform and belongings:
Items of clothing and personal belongings can easily get mixed up or go missing. Please ensure these are clearly labelled as this helps to return them to the correct family promptly.
Uniform
Developing independence is an important part of our curriculum and something we encourage daily in Reception. To support with this, we recommend that children wear shoes that they can fasten by themselves (e.g. velcro instead of laces). We will always help the children when they need it, but being able to try first is a great way to develop these skills quickly. It is useful to continue practising this at home too!
Items to bring daily:
Each child should bring a water bottle (standard size as we have limited space) and a blue school bag (again we have limited space in our cloakroom and kindly ask that the blue school bag is used as these fit on our pegs). Reading packets will be given out when the children start full time; these will need to be brought into school daily so we can read with the children in class.
Stay and Plays:
Each term there will be a stay and play session where you can come into school and spend time with your child, and join them with their learning. Please can you fill in this form to let me know the best days and times for you to come in.
Important Information and Upcoming Events
Our first full day will be on Wednesday 10th September drop off is at 8:45 and pick up is at 3:25.
Our PE sessions will start the week begining 15th September, this will give the children chance next week to get settled and learn the routines of a full day in school.
Important Reminders:
Polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Please can you bring in healthy snacks please refer to the poster for suitable snacks, we always have fruit avalible too. If bringing in your own snack please put it in a reusable tub, as a school we are trying to reduce our waste.
PE
Our PE days are Wednesday (outside) and Friday (inside). On these days, children can come to school in their PE uniform and will remain in this for the day. We kindly ask that velcro trainers (white, black or navy) are worn as this allows the children to be indepoendent when taking their shoes off and putting them back on. Polite reminder that for health and safety reasons, no jewellery is to be worn on PE days. We kindly ask that this is removed at home before coming into school.if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at:

Thank you for all of your support
Have a lovely weekend
