Year 4 blog Friday 5th February 'Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day which says, I will try again tomorrow.'

February 5, 2021 angela lyons

What a great amount of courage we have seen this week. It takes courage to be faced with tricky work and have a good go at it. I am seeing children really going for it. Sometimes you just have to dive in and give things your best try. What is wonderful is the pride that is felt when you do and you realise you can do hard things!

Children, you have one more week until half term. I am so incredibly proud of you for your hard work, resilience and courage. I know it has not been easy but you will have grown so much as learners and as people for facing these hardships and coming out the other side. Parents, your support has been phenomenal. Together we are all achieving great things!

I loved our Zoom today! It reminded me of our class PE lessons when we always do our workouts together. For next week’s Zoom I think we will have a house team quiz! We will begin with Bamber. I will let you know further details this week.

Your final mission Year 4 is to meet your reading targets next week and to just keep going!!

Let’s Celebrate!

I could not pick just 2 learners for certificates this week, so I went for four!!

Max could have had any certificate as he is demonstrating the skills of so many learning characters. He received a Tommy Turtle certificate for having a go at all learning and also so many other things!

Mason has received a Cooper Crab certificate for being so organised and getting all his work done each day to a very high standard. Everything is well thought through Mason. Well done!

Evie received a Kiki Chameleon certificate for her original ideas and for trying so hard with everything!

and last but not least…

James received a Lizzie Ladybird certificate for striving to improve at everything he does and putting so much effort into doing so.

Mason also met his reading target this week! Excellent!

Notices

Madame Jefferson has asked that children have a shoebox for their French lesson on Tuesday at home. Or it can be a cereal box. Do not worry though if you don’t have one - it can be drawn instead.

You will need sweets for our Wednesday maths lesson on division with remainders. Smarties would be good. You could use counters if not!

As I know we are all looking out for ways to get good books for our children to read, the button below takes you to a link where you can order and collect books from the library.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the first signs of Spring!

God bless, Mrs Lyons, Mrs Mather and Miss Forster.

Year 6 Weekly Blog - "Do everything with a sprinkle of kindness."

February 5, 2021 Natalie Gregan

Kindness is free and at the moment, it is exactly what our world needs. This week, I have challenged the class to complete kindness missions with their friends. Sending someone a message or an email can really brighten their day. It has been really heart-warming to see the children interact with each other and send each other a message.

Year 3 Remote learning Friday 5th February 2021

February 4, 2021 Katie Edmondson

Good morning children. How are you this wonderful Friday morning? We hope that you are feeling wide awake and ready for today’s super learning. Be a Bobby Bee and be enthusiastic about all of your learning today. Are you ready to get busy?

Reading

How are you doing with your reading? Are you ready to quiz? Are you nearly at 100% of your reading target yet? Keep trying and you will get there. Well done to Max, who achieved his target yesterday. We will pop your bird on the rainbow.

Remember when you quiz, make sure that you check back in your book as you quiz to find the evidence to go with your answers.

Maths fluency

Here is the video marking yesterday’s fluency. Today’s fluency is set for you on purple Mash, watch this first for help with how to do it.

Maths

Today we are going to start Times Table Rockstars - very exciting! This is a times tables game which other classes in school have been loving. A small group of Year3 have used it in school before, but for most of us it is new (including me!) I can’t wait to be a rockstar! A small group have already been given their username and password and you stuck them in your little green reading record book. If you weren’t in that group or you have left this book in school we are sending out an individual email to you with your details.

Today I would like you to log in (try to do this yourself children so you get fast at it) and have an explore of it. We will be using the gig, the garage and the arena sections.

Please watch my video on how to use it. Enjoy!

English

Watch the video below to complete today’s learning all about the Iron Man.

I have included a copy of chapter 5 for you on the button below the video so that you can refer to the text for the different activities. Enjoy!!

The Iron Man - Chapter 5

Science

Today we are going to be sorting living things using different criteria. Watch the video and complete the learning. When you have done the learning please can you take a photo and pop it onto the 2Do on Purple Mash? Thank you. Have fun!!

Maths

Multiplying larger 2 digit numbers. Year 4, it is really important that you are not just writing the answers down as some of you did yesterday. You need to practise the methods that I teach you so that you will be ready for year 5. Please watch the video carefully so you know exactly what to do.

Multiplying larger two digit numbers

RE - Jesus teaches us about heaven.

PE - This week can you invent your own Hiit session?

Hiit stands for High Intensity Training.

This means you need to pick exercises that will really get your heart beating fast.

You should do them for 30 seconds and then have a 30 second rest before going onto your next exercise.

Choose some good music - and off you go!

Put your favourite move on our class blog - ‘Moves’ and we may do it tomorrow in our class council ZOOM meeting!

There may already be some good moves on there from other children which you can pinch for your Hiit today!

Maths

Today’s maths lesson is in two parts as I had to dash back to class to teach. Please make sure you watch and complete both parts.
