Maths
This week we have focused on learning how to regroup in column subtraction. This happens if the top number of a column is lower than the bottom number to subtract. Watch the video below to see a child in class solving them. Please set these out in your books and work them out. I have thrown in a few additions just to make sure you are reading the symbol properly and can remember how to carry out addition!
This will be your last week of having these calculations for homework.

Spelling
This week we have been learning to spell IRREGULAR past tense verbs:
brought caught knew kept heard thought paid drove grew forgave slept woke built taught stood spoke wore left
Please write a list of these past tense verbs and their present tense partner. Spell each one carefully. Make sure you practise your best handwriting - (especially those children I have spoken to who need to make little improvements to some of their letters.) Here are the first two done for you:
bring - brought
catch - caught
2. Pick 4of these irregular past tense verbs that you find the most tricky. Do our class grid method to learn each one -
1. Draw a grid and write the word in the left top quadrant. Then trace it.
2. Copy the word in the top right quadrant.
3. Hide the words. Write from memory in bottom left quadrant and check it is right.
4. Close your eyes and write for bottom right quadrant.
