What an incredible week of learning you have had Year 2. You all look like you have had so much fun! The recipes you have all followed to make some delicious meals have made me very hungry. I have definitely been inspired to make something other than my ham sandwiches for lunch! Your volcano photographs and videos have also made me smile, with some very inventive ways being used. As I mentioned in my video last week, please don’t forget to say thank you to your wonderful parents. They are doing an amazing job at keeping you busy and allowing you to complete all of this creative learning.
I hope that you all enjoy the extra long weekend with your families, and hopefully we may have some answers about what’s happening after the weekend.

I can’t believe that we’ve reached yet another Friday.
I have loved receiving your photographs this week. Your creativity in your learning has been superb! I have been particularly blown away by your fantastic English work. It looks as though you’ve all enjoyed the Roald Dahl poems. I have also been receiving lots of different emails telling me that different awards have been achieved on the different learning platforms, including more than 30 books read on Epic and lots of sections complete on IXL. Keep it up Year 2!
Also … after looking through all of your friend’s home learning, you might just see a little message from a familiar face and a particularly wriggly puppy!

Good afternoon Year 2,
I have been amazed by how well you have sprung back into your learning this week. Receiving your photographs really does make me smile (although it does make me miss you even more!). Thank you parents for your feedback of the learning too. It has been great to hear that many of the children are able to access the learning independently.
So many of you have made wonderful dens and I love that some of you even slept in yours over night! Your geography maps have also been superb, with many of you using your daily exercise to help you with this task.

Although class numbers have depleted over the last week, the children have remained in high spirits and have continued with day to day learning to the best of their ability. Naturally, there have been questions and curiosity, but the children have come to realise that at this moment, taking each day as it comes is all we can do.

Yet again, we have had another great week here in Year 2. The children are continually achieving targets and setting themselves new ones in order to challenge and stretch themselves further. English sessions have once again been filled with ‘Kiki Chameleons’, with all the children being so creative in their writing. We began the week by looking at commas for lists and how we can use them correctly in our writing. We then wrote a recount of one of ‘Flat Stanley’s’ adventures, of course remembering to include those important commas in our work!

The children are well and truly back into the swing of learning now and are continually amazing us all with their focus, determination and enthusiasm. Lessons have been filled with real deep thinking and reasoning, with many great questions being asked in all areas of learning.

It was wonderful to see so many smiley faces walking through the door on Monday morning, eager to start a new half term here in Year 2. The week has flown by, and before the blink of an eye, we’ve arrived at Friday again! The children have amazed me with how focused they have returned to school and how quickly they always adapt back to our school routines and expectations.

Year 2 had a very busy morning practising some incredibly valuable life skills. They listened so carefully to Andrea who came into class to teach us all about what to do in emergency situations, which ranged from choking to broken bones! Well done Year 2 - you will all receive your certificates tomorrow.
