English - Writing your Dragon Slayer Story
Today it is time to write the dilemma. What does the Dragon Slayer DO to show he is in a dilemma? Why is he in a dilemma? Write this paragraph including some speech-dialogue and show the reader how he feels. You can still use extended noun phrases to describe the little baby dragon. Aaaah!
Maths
Today we re going to learn another new skill - multiplying a two digit number by a one digit number using THE EXTENDED METHOD. It is really important that you do this just as I teach you, rather than skipping to the next step.
New Sum Dog challenge set today Practising x and divide.
there is a Purple mash time 2 do - if you have time!

Year 3 Wednesday 1st April Learning from Home
Good Morning everyone, and welcome to another day of learning from home.
Put a smile on your face, a sparkle in your eyes and let’s get working! Have fun!
Did you know that April 1st is known as April Fools’ Day? Can you find out anything about what it is about? You could even have a bit of fun with this. (Kind fun of course - keep everyone happy!!!) Let us know what you get up to.
This morning we would like you to:
Read
Can you find a factual book on the free ebooks today? Choose an insect book or a plant book, it could help you with your Science today. Have a read and then take a quiz. Think carefully when quizzing - try to make sure you answer the questions carefully and try to get 100%. You can do it!
Sumdog
Try out the challenges. Have you played all of the different games yet or do you have a favourite? Why not try playing a different one - it might even become your new favourite!!!
Maths
Roll a dice three times and make a 3 digit number. Write it down. Roll just one dice again and either add it to the first number or subtract it. Make sure that you line up the columns carefully. Check whether you have to exchange and make sure that you do this carefully. (Make sure that you take the bottom number from the top number when subtracting - BE CAREFUL!!!)
(If you don’t have a dice check how to generate numbers on line from Monday’s home learning blog)
English
Part 1 - Today I would like you to check and correct any spelling mistakes in your Italy work from yesterday so that your notes are all ready to use for later in the week.
Part 2 - Please spend some time practising your spellings for this week too
famous guide promise favourite possible continue
What about getting a pot of water and a paintbrush and writing them on the garden flags or writing them in chalk?
Science
This week’s Science is all about careful observation. You don’t need to write anything down unless you want to. Just make sure that you are observing carefully and talking about what you have seen. Reading (from books or finding out on the internet) is also an important aid in this week’s Science lesson.
Look out for signs of spring when you are outside - what do you notice? Can you see the changes that are taking place? Talk to your grown up about the changes that you can see. Keep looking every day to see if you can see anything different happening. (Keep a log of these if you want)
Make sure that you are using your senses to help you. What can you smell, hear and feel too? (Don’t go around tasting unless your grown up says it is okay).
Have you noticed anything about the days just recently? Look what time the sun comes up and goes down on the weather app. Check this out every day for a few days - what do you notice?
With all the sunshine we have had lately there are lots of lovely flowers beginning to grow. Look out for them in the garden or when you are out on a walk. How many can you identify and name? Have you read any amazing facts about these in the books you have read this week? If not why not look up some of these on the internet and see what you can find out about them.
With so many flowers around, there are many more insects. I’ve seen bumble bees, butterflies, beetles, woodlice, ants and midges in my garden. Which insects can you spot? Again can you find out any amazing facts about them?
You could even draw a picture of any flowers or insects you see if you want.
Some of you have been planting in the garden. Maybe you could plant some seeds and watch them grow over the coming weeks. You could take photos as things begin to grow.
Have fun!
Year 4 Weekly tasks for week beginning Monday 30th March - with Flute added!

Hi Year 4! Tuesday 31st March
Betty and Jinxy cat say hello and tell you they are being quite well-behaved (apart from 1 mouse and a couple of spiders)
I have put the latest lovely learning pictures below. I have also been on looking at reading targets this morning. So far this term, these children have met their targets:
Lily A, Faye, Lorna-Jane, Victor, Elise, Sophie, Fin. Well done children - I have set you new targets! Hope I haven’t missed anyone!
A lot of you are nearly there. Don’t forget you can quiz from home and there’s lots of good books you can actually read on screen in Accelerated reader"
Year 3 Tuesday 31st March Photos from your Learning at Home
Thank you to all of you who are sending us photos of your learning from home. We love to see them and hope that you are all having fun.
We’re loving the pictures of your French ice lollies. They look sooooo delicious.

1. PE with Joe Wicks—Start your day with a fun workout (https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1/videos )
2. Phonics: Please continue to practise one of those tricky sounds that you identified last week.
Don’t forget to practise this weeks “To do” on Purple mash. The children need to read the word and choose either ‘m’ or ‘n’ to complete the word, by dragging the letter into place. Today is the last day for this challenge to be completed.
(Remember: Purple mash logins are on Reception’s home page under the tab, “Websites to use whilst learning at home”)
3. PE: We were so fortunate with the weather last week, I loved seeing all of the photos with the children learning outside having lots of fun! Football was a great hit so I would like you to continue to practise this today (weather permitting).
4. Sum Dog: Today is the last day to complete this weeks first challenge. If you’ve already had a go don’t forget that you can keep practising this skill, seeing if you can better your score.
5. 30 Day Lego challenge: A couple of our friends have started on the Lego challenge already, let’s all take part!
*** Please save some toilet roll tubes, cereal boxes, bottle lids etc. These will be needed for Friday’s learning challenge. I thought that it would be fun to use our creativity to create a new friend/monster/robot. And then to send me a picture of your creation that I can upload onto the end of week blog.***
Miss Bassett.
Year 3 Tuesday 31st March 2020 Learning from Home
Good morning everyone. We hope that you are all well and ready to learn.
Have you checked out the weekly challenges? There’s a lovely one to go with your French work this week. (Tasty too!)
Reading
Read in a quiet space and don’t forget to quiz if you are ready to. Send us a picture of you reading so that we can share it. (Tomorrow your science will involve insects and plants, so maybe have a look at the e-books and find a suitable one). Don’t forget to quiz.
Sumdog
Which challenges can you nail today? Have you tried playing against anyone yet?
Maths - using column addition and subtraction
Roll a dice twice and make a 2 digit number. Write it down. Roll the dice twice again and either add this number to the first number or subtract one from the other (make sure that you start with the greatest number and subtract the lower number) Make sure that you line up the columns carefully. Check whether you have to exchange and make sure that you do this carefully. (Make sure that you take the bottom number from the top number when subtracting - BE CAREFUL!!!) (If you don’t have dice check out yesterday’s home learning for how to generate numbers on line).
English
Today, I would like you to start doing some research into the country of Italy, as we will be writing our non chronological report about it later in the week.
Part 1
Use the internet or any books you have at home to read about Italy. As you are reading I would like you to write notes, today we are writing only notes rather than full sentences.
i.e Capital—Rome
As well as practising the skill of reading and taking notes I would like the children to practise listening and taking notes.
Part 2
Parents—with part of the information you have found pick a paragraph to read aloud to your child. Please read a sentence at a time to your child and allow them some time to write down some notes from what they have heard.
Parents please make sure that you think carefully about search terms you are typing into the search engine, so that children see the appropriate kind of information about Italy rather than what may be happening there right now.
Please research these areas and write notes in sections on your page in your home learning book
Where is Italy? Which continent is it in? Which countries surround it? Which oceans surround it?
Food
Weather
Landmarks and physical features - rivers, mountains, volcanoes etc
Religion
National celebrations
Then write down one really interesting fact that you found out today (it doesn’t have to be about any of these areas I have given ) —remember in note form.
French
Since we normally do French on a Tuesday and today is Tuesday, here is some French for you to do.
We would like you to watch the You Tube clip “J’aime les fruits” — click the button and learn the names of the different fruits. Sing–a–long with the song and learn the names as you sing.
You could also watch the first part of You Tube video on vocabulary to learn the names of more fruit and veg too.
Can you either print off the sheets here and match the names to the pictures? (if you have a printer) or you could draw yourself some pictures of fruit and vegetables (just like on the sheet) and write the names in French underneath. Make sure that you copy carefully.
If there’s any fruit or vegetables on the sheet that weren’t on the videos then maybe you could investigate what they are on the internet. Have fun!

Using the plan you created for your own version of the chapter ‘The Museum Thieves’, write the ‘beginning’ section of your chapter in your English books. Remember, this should be able to be read by others to enjoy. Think about your handwriting and your spellings, but most importantly, how will you grasp the reader’s interest?
Within your beginning, include the following grammar focus:
Use a variety of different sentence forms within your writing. For example: sentences ending in full stops, sentences ending in question marks and sentences ending with exclamation marks.

1. PE with Joe Wicks—I know that many of you are enjoying taking part in this each morning as a family… we are going to be very fit at the end of this! (https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1/videos )
2. Phonics: Please practise one of those tricky sounds that you identified last week.
I have also set a new “To do” on Purple mash. The children need to read the word and choose either ‘m’ or ‘n’ to complete the word, by dragging the letter into place. This challenge can be completed today or tomorrow. I look forward to seeing how you get on!
(Purple mash logins are on Reception’s home page under the tab, “Websites to use whilst learning at home”)
3. Sum Dog: There is a new challenge set for today and tomorrow. Can you compare the lengths of 2 objects using non-standard forms of measure? Enjoy!
4. RE: Today I would like the children to listen to the bible story, “Feeding the 5000.” You can watch a short video of the story on Youtube following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaPChCpphU4 .
After watching this video, please reflect on the little boys actions, discussing the importance of sharing. Using your working from home book, I would then like you to draw a picture to reflect the story. E.g a drawing of Jesus sharing the loaves and fishes. You could then write anything that your child says or remembers about the story somewhere on this picture to show their understanding.
*** Please save some toilet roll tubes, cereal boxes, bottle lids etc. These will be needed for Friday’s learning challenge.
