I have absolutely loved seeing the children today and they have seamlessly fit back into school life. It may be a little different and the classroom was set out but the people are still the same and it was great to have so many children back in!

Final Week of ART Home Learning
13-17th July 2020
I can’t believe we are at the end of our school year already. The last sixteen weeks have been very strange for all of us, but as a true school community, we have pulled together and tried our best. I have enjoyed setting art activities that could be adapted by everyone at home, depending on what we had to hand. I’ve been blown away by the art sent to me and have loved getting to know your families better as emails were exchanged. These are the final art activities of the school year, I hope you’ll enjoy them…

Saying goodbye for now
On Thursday Year 3 will all be saying goodbye for now as we head into our Summer holidays (on Friday there will be home learning challenges, but it will be slightly different - a little like the Health and happiness week where there was whole school family challenges to complete). Therefore we will use Thursday to say our goodbyes and see you soons to each other. Today I would like you to make a short video wishing everyone a good holiday, telling everyone what you are going to get up to and that you will see them soon etc. That will be our way of ending Year 3 as our little community. Please email your videos to me and I will make them into a little movie of everyone, it will feel like a big end of year hug when we watch them on Thursday. If you feel too shy to make a video you may instead want to send a photo holding a piece of paper with the message you want to say - make sure your writing is big and bold enough.

Good Morning Year 2!
Did you all enjoy your transition week and meeting your new teachers? I’m sure you amazed them all with your super focus, determination and enthusiasm!
I am so thrilled to be spending the final week of the year with you all. This week you will be completing some lovely activities whilst reflecting upon your time in Year 2. Let’s really go for it, have one final week of hard work and enjoy our final week as a class team together.
What have you learned this year?
Today I would like you to reflect upon everything you have learned this year. Think carefully about the different subjects and what you learned in each. Create a spider diagram showing all of your new acquired knowledge. If you’ve got a super memory (unlike Miss Woodend!), maybe you would like to create a spider diagram for each subject. Finally, I would like you to think carefully about what has been your favourite subject and why.
Don’t forget to take photographs of your spider diagrams. If you would prefer, you can create yours on Purple Mash and send it over to me when complete.
Here are a few photographs to remind you of the learning you completed in school.

Click on WEEK 10 (W/C 29th JUNE) - Lesson 1 - Measure Mass in grams. Watch the video and complete the activity below.
Enjoy chapter 5 of the owl who was afraid of the dark - Dark is fascinating. Complete the comprehension questions below.
Usually, during the summer holidays, lots of you complete the library reading challenge. As everything is a little different this year, they are running the challenge online. Click the link below to sign up for the challenge (you will need a grown up’s email address).
To help with your choosing of books, I have attached a list of books that are great for Year 2 children. I know that you are very soon to be Year 3, but I thought it would be nice to see how many you have read already and if you could challenge yourself to read them all before September! Some we have already read in school!
Happy Reading!
Enjoy your day Year 2!

Reception Home Learning Monday 13th July
Good morning Reception . It a marvellous Monday again today. Try to be marvellous in everything that you do!
It’s so lovely to be with you all again for our final week in school. I can hardly believe that you have come to the end of your Reception year and are ready for Year 1 - time seems to have flown by! But then again, I know that you have worked really hard this year and even though things have been very strange for us all, you have been great learners and wanted to keep growing your brains. Well done!
I might not have been looking after your learning for very long but I do know that I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and watching you learn new things and I also know that Miss Bassett is so proud of you all and how much you have learned.
I hope that you enjoyed last week, getting to know your new teacher Miss Lane. I know that she really enjoyed hearing from you and finding out all about you all. She is so excited to be teaching you all in September.
We have just 4 days of class learning this week and then on Friday we have our final day of the year working together as a whole school to say “good-bye” before we start our summer holidays.
Today’s Learning Activities:
English - Traditional Tales
Watch and enjoy The Gingerbread Man, read by Julie Walters:
Discuss the story with your grown up. Can you answer these questions?
Who baked the gingerbread man? What did the gingerbread man shout each time he escaped from someone? How did the sly old fox trick the gingerbread man?
Can you write a list of all the people and animals that the gingerbread man escaped from? (Remember to sound out each word carefully)
Can you draw pictures of them in the order that they appear in the story?
White Rose Maths
Lesson 1 Week 10 w/c 29th June
This week we are going to look at the story of Oliver’s Vegetables. I know quite a few of you have been busy growing vegetables at home during lockdown and I’ve been looking at all of the photos that you have in, you are looking after them really carefully and will soon be eating lots of delicious things that you have grown. Have a look what Oliver has been up to and see if you can help him with his maths work. Maybe you could use the border that you create in the next activity.
Memories
Have a think about all of the things that you have done during your time in Reception. Talk to your grown up about what you have done. What did you enjoy doing the most?
I would like you to draw a picture and write a sentence or two about your favourite memory of being in Reception Class. (Remember to sound out carefully when you are writing.)
PE
Remember it’s really important to keep active. Think about what you can do today to keep active. Maybe you want to have a go at something you are good at because you enjoy doing it. Or maybe you know there is something that you would like to get better at and need a bit of practise with. Maybe you would like to have a go at more than one thing! You choose!
I hope that you have a lovely day.
Don’t forget to send me some photos of what you have been doing.

Maths
I thought we could spend our last week thinking about money. Enjoy the video and task below.
Celebrating our Achievements.
I have set a Purple Mash 2do and I would like you to do me a slideshow all about your favourite subject in year 4! I would prefer something we have done in class rather than Art (I know you all adore that!)
Maybe it is a subject you have grown more fond of this year, like English or Maths. Maybe it is Science or History. Perhaps you love geography or computing.
I have written some prompts in the help section (look for the blue question mark) to help you tell me more about why you love it and which parts in particular!
Faith-Filled and Hopeful
During our time at home over the last couple of months, we have all had to put our trust in God and be as full of faith and hope as we possible could be in such different and difficult times. Therefore, the teachers at school decided that the best virtues to focus upon during the last week of home learning would be faith-filled and hopeful.
We are going to end our year by growing closer to Mary our Mother each day. Complete the activity below.
A few more things for Year 6...
I hope the children are excited about tomorrow and coming back to school. Each day I have created a different focus for the children which will then lead their learning for the day. By the end of the week they will have created a lovely keepsake.

We hope that you have enjoyed all of the activities. Thank you for being such enthusiastic learners and for all of the fantastic work that you have done on Purple Mash and for the super emails and lovely photos and videos that you have sent to us this week - we hope that you enjoy the picture movie that we have put together for you.
I’ve also made a little movie to answer the questions that you asked us. I’m sorry that we can’t answer all of them at the moment but by September we should be able to share the answers to the other questions with you.
We hope that you enjoy the last week of term with Miss Woodend next week.

Good morning our Super Stars.
What a busy week we have had, it has whizzed by as we have had so much fun! It really has been lovely to start getting to know you all, we hope you have enjoyed the week too.
The work you have been producing has been fantastic, we are really pleased with you. Do you feel proud of yourself?
We hope that by getting to know us a little bit more and having a taster of Year 3 that we have eased any of those niggling worries you sometimes get in your tummy when something new is happening. We had those too, but now we all just feel eager to teach you and be back together at school. We know you will be brilliant.
Thank you to you parents for embracing the new challenges and supporting your children through this week, we really appreciate the time it has taken to email and send photos. It has been a pleasure!

My learning Characters
Now that you have watched the videos of all the stories from our learning characters we would like you to reflect on which character you think you are already most like. Talk about this with a grown up, is it Tommy Turtle because you are eager to give anything a go? Is it Roger Robin because you work well with partners and in a team?
Then reflect on and discuss which learning character you would like to be more like in Year 3, is it Sadie Spider because you sometimes give up if you can’t do something straight away? Is it Kiki Chameleon because you would like to be better at trying different approaches to learning?
On Purple Mash there is a 2do set for you called Learning characters. I would like you to write which learning character you feel you are most like already and why, then which you aim to be more like in year 3 and why. Include an image of each animal to go alongside your writing.
Am I Year 3 ready?
Now that you are almost in the juniors we need to make sure you are ‘Junior ready’. What kind of things do juniors need to be able to do you think? Discuss this with a grown up and decide on at least one thing you would like to work towards until we get back to school in September. Here are some suggestions of things that your junior teachers would like you to be able to do.
· Tie your shoelaces yourself.
· Know your 2, 5 and 10 times tables off by heart and in a random order.
· Tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes e.g. 25 past 6, 10 to 4 etc.
· Know your number bond pairs to 10 and 20 instantly.
· Form your letters in a cursive style.
· Spell your last name and your address.
· Read and spell the Year 1 and 2 common exception words (click the button below to see them).
Once you have decided what you are going to work on make a start on it today and get practising for 45 minutes, either in one go or in small chunks of time.
Positive quote art
Each morning I like to add a positive quote to our morning board to start our day the right way. Today I would like you to have a think of a positive quote that you can make into a colourful piece of art work. We will put a new one up in our classroom each week to inspire us. Maybe your family have a mantra you try to live by, maybe a parent or grandparent says something to help you be a kind brother or sister. You could use that as your quote, or find a new one you agree with and hope our class can follow to make year 3 a happy team to be part of.
Here is mine.
If you are struggling to think of one, or find one I usually type ‘positive quotes for children’ into my search engine and get lots of good ones. Please complete this on a piece of A4 paper and keep it somewhere safe.
Thank you for a lovely week children.
Photos will be made into a little montage video at some point today, if they could be sent before lunch that would really help us out, thank you.

Year 1 - Meeting your new teacher - Friday 10th July
Good Morning. Today is your final day of transition activities before Miss Lane takes over once again for your final week of learning as a Year 1.
As promised, here is a little video of me answering a few of your questions about Year 2. Thank you to my little Year 1 bubble for asking the questions so brilliantly!
Here are Friday’s daily activities:
Targets for next year
Below I have attached a hot air balloon template that I would like you to colour in colourfully and neatly so that it can be used on display in your new Year 2 classroom. If you are unable to print the template, feel free to draw your own. On the cloud in the middle, I would like to to write a target that you would like to achieve next year. That might be to improve your handwriting, know your number facts to 20 or to participate more in classroom discussions. It’s your target so make sure that you make it achievable for you! Once complete, take a photograph and send it to me via email. We will then look at these at the end of your time in Year 2 to see what ‘Keep Improving Isabella Insects’ you have been!
What can I do over the summer holidays to get ready for Year 2?
Your final activity of the week is to look at the list below and decide what you still need to work on in order to be ready for Year 2 in September.
Reading
I’m sure you will recognise the word lists attached below. Which set did you get up to? Which words do you still need to practise?
If you can read all of the words, can you spell them?
Usually, during the summer holidays, lots of you complete the library reading challenge. As everything is a little different this year, they are running the challenge online. Click the link below to sign up for the challenge (you will need a grown up’s email address).
To help with your choosing of books, I have attached a list of books that are great for Year 1 children. I know that you are very soon to be Year 2, but I thought it would be nice to see how many you have read already and if you could challenge yourself to read them all before September! Some you have already read in school!
Happy Reading!
Cursive Handwriting
Use the sheet below to ensure that you are forming your cursive letters correctly. If you can form them correctly, have a go at joining them together.
Recognising numbers
Access the number square below. Can you recognise all of the numbers to 100? Can you say how many tens and how many ones for each number? Can you say 1 less or 1 more than a given number? Can you say 10 more or 10 less than a given number?
Can you spell numbers 1 - 20 correctly? Ask an adult to help you.
Extra Activities
Which Year 1 IXL sections do you need to complete before Year 2? Have a look and see if you can complete them all!
Purple Mash - Play challenge 1 of the ‘bond bubbles’ game I have set as a 2DO for you on Purple Mash.
Keep reading for at least 30 minutes a day. Maybe you could send me the name of your favourite book or author!
I have LOVED getting to know you this week Year 1 and I CAN’T WAIT to teach you next year!

Activity 1: Getting to Know you.
We are going to learn a new skill alongside getting to know you today. I am going to teach you how to make a quiz on Purple Mash. You can do a quiz about yourself! I will take it and see how I do!!!
Or you can do a quiz on something that interests you. I will model it in the video, then you can have a go.
Activity 2: Our learning skills - Resilience.
Watch the video about Sadie Spider today. She has an excellent approach to learning.
Activity 3: What we do in Year 4 - RE
Our school mission statement is ‘You are Precious in My Eyes.’ This statement is what God is saying to all of us. Watch the video below to see how precious you really are in God’s eyes.
Our school mission statement is not just about how precious you are to God. It also means that we must treat every other human being as precious - because we are ALL precious. No matter how old we are, where we live, what colour our hair is, what our personality is like - EVERY PERSON IS PRECIOUS and we strive to treat them like that in our lives.
Now create a school poster with this statement from Isaiah - YOU ARE PRECIOUS IN MY EYES. You could copy our school logo from the school website. Maybe you could do it in lots of different blues to represent our school.
Whilst you are drawing talk to a grown up. If you are so precious to God then everybody is precious to God. Therefore, how should we treat other people?
Extra Activities today
Can you build or draw a spider web? Use your creativity to design one.
Why not put Sadie in it and her motto ‘Try, Try Try!’
2. Purple Mash 2do ‘AFish- matic’ This is a great game to play to practise your calculations. You need to make the target number by selecting the right calculation. Practise practise! This is a good one to do over Summer to practise your times tables.
