Friday 17th July - Today we come together to reflect and celebrate!

Good morning to the whole school!

Today the teachers wanted to come together to share our final day- just as we would at school - celebrating our leavers’ assembly.

We always start with prayer and quiet reflection.

This time apart has given us the opportunity to: reflect, to embrace our loving families and to be compassionate to others.

Speak to God in your own words or reflect on Ava’s (year 4) gratitude prayer.

Every night too, we have come together to pray to Our Lady. Through prayer we nurture a growing relationship with God. We hear Him.

Our first task today is to reach out to God to know him and to love him and to listen to him. To do this we must have faith. We are all striving to be faith-filled- a community together in faith.

Keeping faith - Activity

St. Ignatius’ teachings explain “We have faith in those who are closest to us – our family and friends.  This faith grows and deepens over time and as our relationships are tested, sometimes knocked and rebuilt with forgiveness, so they become stronger and more resilient. We need to have faith in ourselves…We should also have faith in the communities to which we belong – our neighbourhood, parish, school, wider society, our country and the international family of all humanity.  This faith grows only to the extent to which we engage in and contribute to the common good ….. And finally, God invites us to have faith in Him and in His Son, Jesus Christ.  This faith grows if we work at a relationship with God in prayer, by trying to live out the gospel values, and by being part of a community of faith.”

Faith is hard to teach and Jesus tried to teach His disciples to have faith in Him. Watch the film, which recounts the moment Jesus walked on water. Then collect a bowl of water, some paperclips and some washing-up liquid. Watch the second film and together reflect on this lesson about faith. Have a go yourself!

To our wonderful Year 6 class. There is not a teacher in school who doesn’t have the fondest memories of teaching you. You were fun, curious and hard working. It seems very unfair that you did not get to experience everything, but you need to know that you gave your teachers the world! Your love for one another made you a real class family - you reflected the school mission statement and words of Pope Francis when he said “Help one another. This is what Jesus asks us to do. This is what I do. And I do it with my heart.” Keep helping one another on the next part of life’s journey.

You will be missed and loved. Here you can return, you will be welcomed, as all old pupils are, with open arms.

As a staff we cannot thank you enough for all your support. It has been a real team effort to sustain the children’s learning journey. Well done children for all your hard work, you deserve a rest and we cannot wait to see you all in September. Enjoy watching this little film, it is a true celebration of a community together growing in openness, honesty and trust. God Bless.

Summer learning

As always we encourage all children to keep practising their key skills (reading and maths) over the summer holidays. Tomorrow a final blog will appear on all your class pages. Here you will find links which you can explore.

God Bless
