KEEPING YOUR LEARNING TICKING OVER DURING THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Hello Parents,

We have had numerous requests from parents for support over the next few weeks. We have created this page to help you source useful and well pitched resources. These can help to keep those vital reading and maths skills ticking over.

The teachers have also left their “Learning at Home” blogs live - these posts have the last 30 days of lessons (6 weeks).

Highly Recommended Reads

Pie Corbett is an English educational trainer, writer, author and poet who has written more than two hundred books. He is an influential member of the teaching profession. He has collated reading spines for children, perfect books to read at different developmental ages.

We would like you to read all the books from the year group you have just finished, so if you have just finished Year 4, click on the Year 4 button. You will notice that the children have read some of these already in school - but not all.

These are all cracking reads! You may find you already have a copy at home. Or you may be able to borrow one from a friend or even download it on the kindle app (many for free). Or of course you could buy it as a treat.

Maths

The school had the opportunity of using the Sumdog maths platform over the summer term. Although the full platform is not available the children can still practice their mental agility. Make sure you log out when you have finished!

If you would like more formal maths teaching you can access Oak National Academy. We have made a little film to help you navigate these online lessons.

Oak National Academy has lessons for the other subjects too press “foundation” to discover fascinating geography, history and science projects!

Whatever circumstances we have found ourselves in over the past term- we all deserve some time and space. Make sure you have a rest - with a good book!!!!

We can’t wait to teach again- face to face in September.
