Dear Year 4 parents and children,
Thank you for all your super efforts this week. It has been lovely to see how inspired many of you have been by Greta Thunberg and many others that we have learned about. Many of your words and thoughts this week have inspired me - there has been some excellent work on Purple Mash.
I am a little sad that I will not get to teach you ‘live’ in the classroom before the end of the year. However, I have lots of exciting things planned over the next few weeks to teach you from afar! I miss you all but I am so proud of you children - you are striving to do your best!
Make sure you keep up with that reading - try to challenge yourself to read books which are more suited to the upper juniors - now you are nearly year 5!
Here is a little film of some of your work this week.
Please do keep sending me your work and pictures of you - I do love to see you and your efforts.
God bless and have a lovely weekend all of you,
Mrs Lyons
This week’s Lancashire Youth Games Challenge is cricket. Come on…LET’S GET INVOLVED!
Read moreHi everyone,
I believe there is some confusion regarding the white rose maths lessons. When you open year 4 White Rose it comes up with the latest lessons they have created. They are up to Summer week 7.
We are using The unit labelled week 1 (not Summer. It is the lowest box on the image below that you need to click on. The activities are matched to this.
I hope this makes things clear. You just need to minimise Summer Term - Week 7 and this list will come up for you to select week 1.
Good morning everyone and welcome to our final set of tasks for Health and Happiness week. Today is all about STAYING ACTIVE! There are so many studies that link regular exercise to emotional well being as well as a healthy body. Moving helps our minds too! Discover inside and outside challenges and one last community challenge as Lancashire County Council collect archive material about this unusual time in history- when we all stayed home.
Read moreWelcome to Part 2 of our Health and Happiness week. The following tasks and challenges help us to reflect on our feelings. It is so important to acknowledge our feelings and to learn how to manage them. Our emotions really do drive us each day, looking after them and understanding them helps us to become emotionally resilient.
Read moreHello everyone. This week the teachers have put together a selection of learning tasks that help us to reflect on our own well being. Usually we would complete these tasks in class with our friends. This year you can complete them with your siblings and family.
We have divided the tasks into three:
PART 1 - Mon and Tues complete the Healthy Hands - learning all about germs
PART 2 - Wed and Thurs complete the Healthy Feelings - exploring our feelings and managing them
PART 3 - Friday get creatively active! - looking after our bodies

To all Year 4 parents and children,
These last 10 weeks , although challenging, have also been ones of great achievement, self-reflection and growth. I have loved seeing you learn together with your families and I have been truly touched by all your wonderful efforts. It has been a privilege to lead your learning during this time and we have had great fun- I loved all your limericks this week and now I can’t stop rhyming! Thank you for sharing all your lovely work and your family experiences with me over the past few weeks. Children - I miss you a lot but I am very proud of you. Parents, thank you for working in partnership with us to provide the best possible learning experiences in this strange time!
Next week, we are all having a week off. A rest! There will be no home learning but I advise you tick along with that reading (in the sunshine hopefully) The following week, is our Health and Happiness week. There will be lovely activities you can carry out with your siblings/family to help keep us healthy and happy.
Have a great week together and thank you all for engaging so fully. Here is a little video of this week’s experiences:

It has been a week, where we have learned about a character Lila and the three gifts she possessed to meet her goal. It fills my heart with joy seeing so many of you each day striving to improve and having the determination like Lila to never give in - persevere and believe you can do it!
At the very end of the story, she realises that all the Firework Makers love what they create and that is why they do it. That is why I teach and it is why you learn too! You must feel such pride in what you have created this week - and in previous weeks. Enjoy watching this video and keep striving to improve like Lizzie Ladybird!

Today there is no video because I want you to read the next part of the story! I would like you to practise reading aloud to someone. Read in an entertaining voice and break up longer words into syllables when you read so you do not get stuck. (If you are a bit shaky with some longer words, you need to be reading aloud to an adult every day until you master this) There is a vocabulary task to do before and a little task after - see below!
