Home Learning - Monday 22nd June 2020

Good morning Year 6. Welcome to our last 4 weeks of learning. As I said in the blog on Friday, we have two more weeks of formal learning followed by a week of transition and then a final week in school. On Friday, I will be in a position to tell you your form groups for St Bedes. I won’t be able to tell you which form it is, just who you will be with from our school.

Year 4 highlights for week ending 19th June!

Wow Year 4 - what a great week you have had! Look at all this wonderful learning and participation from so many of you. Enjoy watching your friends!

You have been brilliant in sports day this week - I wonder who will take the win??

As Miss Hornby has said in her blog, the teachers will be in school full time from next week so we won’t be as contactable. I will do my best to get back to your emails as quickly as I can, but please be patient with me.

Have a lovely weekend all of you and really well done for a fantastic week.

Next week….. Viking myths!! We will see what Thor, Loki and Odin get up to!!

Year 3 celebration of learning 15th June to 19th June

Wow, what a week. I have been blown away with your learning and your attitudes, receiving your emails really makes me smile. Your sports day entries have been fantastic and I’m excited to hear the results.

Well done Year 3.

Please scroll down to the bottom of the page, there’s lots to see.

Have a look at two of your friend’s predictions for part of the story of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

'The hardest thing in life is having the patience to wait for the right moment.'

I was so unbelievably happy to hear that we can now open the school to more pupils. A school’s heartbeat is definitely the laughter of the children and the smiles that we see everyday. The past 12 weeks was not how I intended the children to finish their primary school journey but I am so grateful that we get to spend the last week together. It will be a little different and we will be in two learning bubbles, but I am busy being creative and trying to plan ways that we can celebrate the last week together - but afar! The children have been putting their own ideas on the class blog. I am really excited!

Year 2 Home Learning Challenges - Friday 19th June

We’ve reached yet another Friday Year 2! I hope that you all have a focused end to the week!

Reading

Continue reading and quizzing on books using the Accelerated Reading and Epic Reading resources. Help can be found in the ‘How to help your child’ section of my page if you need it.

Remember, you should be reading for at least half an hour each day. Also try to read both a range of fiction and non-fiction books.

Enjoy Chapter 2 - ‘Dark is kind’

English

Day 5:

Using your plan from yesterday, write your story – either to match ‘I Walk With Vanessa’ or your own story about kindness.
Use the pictures in the book or your own plan to help you sequence the different parts of your story. Remember to rehearse each sentence out loud to check it makes sense before you write it down.
Include character thoughts and feelings – remember you want to inspire your reader to be kind too!
You may also choose to include some of the new vocabulary you have found this week.

Proof-read your work to check for spelling and punctuation. If you have written the story to match ‘I Walk With Vanessa’, you could replay the sharing of the pictures here:

I walk with Vanessa

Share your story with your family or email it to myself if you can. Enjoy spreading some kindness! I can’t wait to read your creations!
