Reception Learning from Home Thursday 16th July
Good morning Reception. It’s our last day doing home learning as a class today. Tomorrow being the final day of the year before the summer holidays, we will be working together (virtually of course) as a whole school to complete some activities and celebrate the year. Make sure that you check the class blog tomorrow for all of the photos from the week and a final “Good-bye” from the Reception Team
I hope that you enjoy the final day working as part of the Reception Class, very soon you will be in Year 1 (Isn’t it exciting!!!. I bet you can’t wait - I know Miss Lane is super excited and can’t stop talking about how great you were last week.)
Today’s Learning Activities:
English - Traditional Tales
Watch the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff
Can you answer these questions? Who went over the bridge first, next, last? Where were they going? Why? What did the troll say? What happened to the troll? What happened to the billy goats?
Can you make a bridge? You might want to use Lego or other construction toys. Then using your toys or teddies can you act out the story?
Maybe you could use different voices for the different characters. Have fun!

Lesson 4 w/b 29th June
Have a look at today’s activity. I hope that you are good at dancing!!! Don’t forget to make a list of which songs you will play 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. Think about your moves and have fun!
Reading
Make sure that you keep up with your reading during the summer holidays. Have you signed up for the library summer reading challenge yet? If you haven’t why not sign up for it now and see if you can read lots of books during the summer and complete the challenge. It’s great fun and it will get your ready for Year 1 too. Your grown ups will need to sign up for you using their email address.
Maybe you could have a look at the list of books that I have made a link to on the button below and see how many of them you have read. This will really help you with you work when you get into Year 1 next year.
(Challenge - can you tick them all off before the end of the summer???)
PE
Remember it’s really important to keep active. Think about what you can do today to keep active. Maybe you want to have a go at something you are good at because you enjoy doing it. Or maybe you know there is something that you would like to get better at and need a bit of practise with. Maybe you would like to have a go at more than one thing! You choose!
I hope that you have a super day.
Don’t forget to send me some photos of what you have been doing.

There has been a lot of hilarity in class today as the theme has been memory. The children have enjoyed reflecting on their school family, their memories from each year group and their favourite curriculum areas. It has been lovely hearing the children’s funniest memories and laughing at them whist telling their own version of events.

Good morning children. It’s our last Wonderful Wednesday of the school year - Can you think of 3 wonderful things about your time in Reception?
Today’s Learning Activities:
English - Traditional Tales
Watch and enjoy the story of Jack and the Beanstalk
Discuss the story and see if you can answer these questions: What did Jack swap for the cow? What was special about the beans? Who lived at the top of the beanstalk? How did Jack escape the Giant?
Do you really think that if you planted beans like in the story, they would grow overnight?
Have you ever grown anything before? I know some of you have been growing things during lockdown.
Look at CBeebies: How Does Your Garden Grow? for some advice and ideas about growing plants at home. (Why not plant some seeds which sprout quickly to maintain the children’s interest.)
Maybe you could make a quick-growing cress head like in Mr Bloom’s nursery:
If you don’t have any seeds are available, maybe you could grow leftover vegetable scraps to use in salads.
White Rose Maths
Look at Lesson 3 w/b 29th June
Today we are going to look at the story of Oliver’s Vegetables again. Oliver has been planting vegetables with his grandad. Can you help him to work out his problems? Then help him to sort his vegetables and say how he sorted them.
Learning Characters
At school we have 8 learning characters that help us to focus on what we need to do to grow our brains. Can you remember them all? (Cooper Crab, Sadie Spider, Roger Robin, Tommy Turtle, Clara Clownfish, Lizzie Ladybird, Kiki Chameleon and of course enthusiastic Bobby Bee)
Can you draw a picture of each of the learning characters and think about how you can be more like them?During the summer holidays can you try to do things that help you to grow more like each of them?
Have fun and think how you can continue to grow your brain - you might want to set yourself a challenge and see if you can achieve it before the end of the holidays. (Learn how to ride your bike, learn how to climb to the top of the climbing frame or go across the monkey bars, learn how to tie your shoe laces, be able to count to 100, or count in 2s or know your address. These are just some examples of things that you might want to do but I’m sure you could think of your own. )
PE
Remember it’s really important to keep active. Think about what you can do today to keep active. Maybe you want to have a go at something you are good at because you enjoy doing it. Or maybe you know there is something that you would like to get better at and need a bit of practise with. Maybe you would like to have a go at more than one thing! You choose!

Today I would like you to make a maths board game that you and your family can play over the holidays to keep that maths brain of yours ticking. Pick the area of maths you think you could improve on ( x + - or divide), make it fun and interactive. You could even throw some forfeits in! Here are some ideas.
Memories
Today we would like you to share your best memory of Year 3. Please go on Purple Mash and access the 2do called ‘My memory of Year 3’. Write about a funny or interesting thing that happened in Year 3 so that others can read about it. Draw a picture to go with your memory. Once you have saved it please share it to the display board called ‘Year 3 Memories’ by clicking on the share option of the drop down menu.
Year 2 Home Learning - Wednesday 15th July
Good Morning Year 2!
Have a look at the image below. Do you recognise it?
That’s right! We looked at this image right at the beginning of Year 2 when we were thinking about our class rules and expectations. Have another close look at the classroom and think carefully about the following questions:
Which Blob do you think best represents you and your time in Year 2?
Do any Blobs show any of the great choices that you made in Year 2? Do any of the Blobs represent any of the wrong choices you may have made in Year 2?
Which feelings do the Blobs represent? What colours would you associate with those feelings? For example red for anger or yellow for happy. If you are able to print the image, you could colour each Blob in the colour to match their feeling.
Remember that everyone looks at the image in different ways. What you think might be different to what someone else thinks. Did you ever think that someone felt a certain way in Year 2 when it turned out that they didn’t feel that way at all?
Maybe you could give the Blobs that represent you a number and then write about when you felt like that in Year 2 and why. You could have felt like many of the Blobs - remember this is perfectly fine!
Enjoy reflecting upon your thoughts and feelings throughout your time in Year 2.

Some we have already read in school!
Happy Reading!

'We must find the time to say thank you to those who make a difference to our lives.'
Today has been all about saying thank you. You should have all received a little something from the children tonight as a way of thanks for everything you have done for them. We have been saying thank you to our school community, to our parents and to our friends.

Reception Learning from Home Tuesday 14th July
Good morning children. It’s Terrific Tuesday again - try to do some terrific work today. Can you be a Bobby Bee?
Today’s Learning Activities:
English - Traditional Tales
Read and enjoy the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears: or you may have your own version to share together.
Then have a go at answering the questions
What happened when Goldilocks ate Baby Bear’s porridge? How do you think she felt when she broke Baby Bear’s chair? What happened when she fell asleep in Baby Bear’s bed? How do you think the three bears felt when they saw everything that Goldilocks had done? How might Goldilocks have felt when she got home and thought about her behaviour?
Can you write a letter from Goldilocks to the three bears to say sorry? What will she write? Remember to use your phonics to help with your sounding out and spelling.
White Rose Maths
Lesson 2 w/b 29th June
Today we are going to look at the story of Oliver’s Fruit Salad. Can you play the game - I went to the market and bought …? (I love playing this game - whenever I play it I always like to create pictures in my head and I find that it helps me to remember. Maybe it will help you too!) Then can you look at the pictures and ask and answer some questions? Have fun!
Postcard
You have been in Reception since last September and you have grown so much and learned such a lot. Think about what it was like to start at school. Were you excited or were you a little bit worried and scared? When the new Reception children come into school in September some of them might be a bit worried and not know what to do.
Can you use Purple Mash and write them a postcard to tell them how wonderful it is in Reception and to tell them not to worry?

RE
Let’s get on with our next RE lesson.
Science
This week we go back to a little bit of Science and investigative skills. What do you wonder about? There are so many things I wonder about as I experience the world, what about you? I want you to pick something you wonder about and investigate and experiment until you find some sort of answer. It might be that you make something or write a song to teach others about it. Look below for some inspiration in the form of a song, a video clip of questions and a photo of Steph’s wonderings a couple of weeks ago when she wondered about how clouds were formed on a wet weekend.

Year 2 Home Learning - Tuesday 14th July
Good morning Year 2. How are you all today?
Last week whilst working with some of the Year 1s, I discovered that many of them had worries about Year 2 and felt a little nervous about moving into a different class with new teachers.
Therefore, today I would like you to write a postcard to Year 1. In your postcard I would like you to tell the Year 1s what they can expect when they come into Year 2. Do they need to be worried? What will they be learning about in Year 2? Include your favourite memories from your time in Year 2. What made you smile? What advice would you give them? If you could go back, is there anything that you would change? Have you grown to be more of our learning characters this year?
Use the template below if you wish. I have also created a 2DO for you on Purple Mash if you would prefer to write it on there.
Here are some photographs to inspire you!
