Good morning Year 3

Today is Safer Internet Day. It is so important that we know how to keep ourselves safe when we are working online. This is especially important at the moment when we are spending a lot of time online working and trying to keep in touch with our friends. Make sure that you have a go at all of the learning today and keep yourself safe. Enjoy!

Below is the link to the national website for this special day in case you want to find out more.

Reading

How are you doing with your reading? Are you nearly at your target? Keep reading and quizzing so that you can move up the rainbow and reach your 100% target. Can you do it before the end of this week? Keep trying.

Safer internet day

Here is the first of your lessons on using the internet safely. It is called Fact or fiction. At school we are going to start this lesson, but then complete the lesson on Zoom at 9.40 am and return to this later, so that we can fit everything in. Please manage your day to suit you, but be ready at 9.40am to join with everyone together. I am really looking forward to it! Bring your best smiles and be ready to join in with some discussion about the internet.

Safer Internet day

Below is a video of the lesson I will be doing with the children at 9.40 am on Zoom (the one called Passwords, passwords, passwords) .

If your child doesn’t take part in the Zoom then they will need to complete all of this video and the tasks please.

If your child does takes part in the Zoom with us then they will just need to complete the three tasks set towards the end of this video once the Zoom meeting has finished. You may want to fast forward to the explanation of the tasks again.

Task 1 Wooclap, Task 2 2connect on Purple Mash and Task 3 2Blog answering my questions.

BLOG QUESTIONS ARE NOW LIVE ON PURPLE MASH IN THE SHARING TAB.

Note - when trying to show you Task 1 Wooclap on here it didn’t work. Sorry, I have since realised it is because I was trying to do it on the device that I set the activity up on, which it didn’t like. Below the video are some photos of what you will do and what the Wooclap word cloud will look like, please be Sadie Spiders and use these photos to help you complete that task.

THE WOOCLAP PASSWORD NEEDED IS

FAKCTK

TYPE IT INTO THE BOX AT THE TOP AND THEN PRESS GO, IT WILL THEN SAY LET’S VOTE SO YOU CAN ANSWER OUR QUESTION WITH YOUR FRIENDS. TOWARDS THE END OF THE DAY I WILL POST OUR WOOCLAP WORD CLOUD SO YOU CAN SEE ALL YOUR ANSWERS. HERE IS A VIDEO OF OUR WOOCLAP WORKING SO FAR.

Thank you children, look at our brilliant Wooclap.

our finished wooclap

Additional information for Task 1 - Wooclap. See the photos below

You need to

  1. Type your answer in to the box and the press the paper aeroplane button which sends your answer in.

Remember the whole class can see this so be kind, appropriate and clear.

2. You can type a few different answers in each, let’s say about three each please children.

If someone else says the same answer as you it will make that word bigger (can you see how the word chocolate was much bigger on my word cloud?) I did that on purpose to show you how it works. Also if you make a spelling mistake, like I did! It doesn’t correct it for you, so be careful.

IMG_7458.jpg

I told you that you would manage it didn’t I? Five Sadie Spider points to those of you that managed it, well done children and grown ups - you can have five Sadie Spider points too!

Art

Even though it is Safer Internet Day it is still art day, so head on over to Mrs Curtis’ page to see what she has in store for you. Enjoy!

Another super week of learning in Year 3. Well done everyone. You all continue to amaze us with your cheerfulness and enthusiasm. You have all demonstrated so many of the different learning characters this week and we are so proud of you all. We loved sharing all of the learning that you were all proud of in our Zoom meeting on Wednesday. We hope that you all enjoyed the Zoom. We are looking forward to another next week— please note it will be on Tuesday next week.

This week we have finished reading our class novel, the Iron Man. This has generated lots of wonderfully creative ideas and some marvellous writing. You have really blown me away with your creativity. Kiki Chameleon learning points for everyone. Well done. In maths we have been doing some great multiplication. We have sent out login details for TTRockstars via email and Miss Edmondson has created a little video to watch so that you can get started. This is a super program and is used in other classes in the school too. We know that you will really enjoy using it. In RE we have been looking at Reconciliation and thinking about how God calls us to change. These lessons will help us with our preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, which the children will hopefully be able to make later on in the year. In Science we have been sorting living things into groups using different criteria. In Geography the children have been very busy creating super leaflets about the local area of St. Annes. Thank you for all of your hard work children. You are little super stars.

Let’s Celebrate:

We are delighted to see all the amazing learning that has taken place this week. The children are working so hard and we are so proud of them all. This week we want to celebrate Millie, Rosa, Charlie, Max and Tabby who have reached their reading targets. Well done children. We also have a few children who will achieve their targets soon hopefully - Christian you are soooo close. If you haven’t managed a quiz yet why not give it a go before the end of next week. We know you can do it. Keep up the good work everyone.

We are proud to announce a cheeky 3 certificates this week!! (Well, we just couldn’t decide again!!) Certificates go to Charlie, Christian and Jay. Well done boys you are all doing an amazing job. Charlie gets a Concentrating Cooper Crab certificate for all of his focus and hard work this week. Well done Charlie you are doing an amazing job. Christian gets a Tommy Turtle certificate for being such a brave and enthusiastic learner. You have produces some really creative writing this week and we can really see your wonderful ideas shining through. We are looking forward to enjoying more of your work next week too. Well done Christian. Jay receives a Sadie Spider certificate because he is trying sooooo hard at the moment. Try, try, try and you will get there. You are also so focused Jay and managing those distractions too. Well done. What a super star! Keep up the good work boys.

We hope that you enjoy the photos from this week’s learning.

Things to Note:

  • Please check your emails later today about our next Zoom meeting that we are organising for next Tuesday 9th February at 9:15am. Please remember that by accepting the invitation to join the meeting  you are agreeing to accept the guidance. . Please can we remind everyone that they should not be sending messages to each other whilst we are on Zoom meetings please. Thank you.

Thank you for all of your support and co-operation this week. We really do appreciate all that you are doing to help the children with their learning. Together we can get through this.

Please do continue to email us and keep in contact. We are here to help where we can and to keep the children learning.

Take care and stay safe
