Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.” - Ruth Carter Stapleton

December 18, 2020 Guest User

Well done children! We have reached the end of the term and what a term it has been!

We would like to say a big “thank you” to you all for all of your smiling faces and support throughout the term. The children have been amazing and they have really settled well into the different routines and life in the juniors. They have worked their socks off throughout the term and really shown how much they have grown. We are really looking forward to watching them grow their brains even more when we come back in January.

We have continued to be busy with our learning throughout this week as well as having lots of fun and enjoying our Danceathon on Tuesday and our Christmas party yesterday. The children were so excited when they saw the little video that we made when Father Christmas arrived at school to deliver some gifts. Have a look at our photos to see some of the things that we have been doing. Thank you for all of your kind donations towards our Danceathon, we will be making our donation to Street Life when we return to school in January.

Let’s Celebrate:

This week our certificates go to Leon and Edi. Leon received a Concentrating Cooper Crab certificate for his focused work and determination to do well. Well done Leon. We are loving seeing you so focused. Keep up the good work. Edi received an Enthusiastic Bobby Bee certificate. You are always smiling and happy to do your work Edi, you are also a lovely learning partner too.  Keep up the good work.  Well done boys.

We are delighted that  Harvey, Lily-Mae (again), Max (again), Franek (again), Georgia and Stanley (3 times WOW!) have achieved 100% of their reading targets this week. Well done children. I am so proud of all of the reading that everyone has been doing. You are all doing an amazing job. I can’t wait for next term to watch everyone reaching their targets all over again.

Well done also to Betsy who got this week’s Lunchtime Role Model of the week and also to Leon who received Jacqui’s Marvellous Manners certificate this week. What an amazing week you have had Leon-  2 certificates in 1 week. You have made us so proud!

Things to note:

  • We hope that you enjoyed the Christmas Nativity video that the whole school made and was posted on the Discover page earlier in the week.

  •  There is no Home Learning over the holidays. Instead spend some fun times together and enjoy this special time of the year.

  • Please do continue to read as much as possible over the holiday. (Remember that you can quiz on books after the holidays if you want.)

We  would just like to say another “thank - you” for all of your support over the term. We hope that you all have a Happy and Holy Christmas and enjoy some relaxing and fun times together as a family. Best wishes for the New Year.

What a lovely week we have had in Year 3. It has absolutely flown by but has been filled with the buzz of learning and the excitement of Christmas preparations and our Christmas Jumper Jog too.

We would like to say a big thank you to you all for your donations for our Christmas Jumper Jog  -  all monies will be sent to Street Life, a local charity doing such an amazing job supporting homeless people in the local area. The children all looked lovely in their Christmas jumpers and we had so much fun running around the playground at every opportunity we could get. (We were really lucky with the weather too.) We also made some beautiful cards to send to Street Life to give out over Christmas. Well done children.(See the attached photos below.)

Things to Note:

· On Tuesday 15th December we will be doing our annual Danceathon. This year it will be slightly different as we will not be able to do our early morning playground dancing but we will be able to do our dances throughout the day as we usually do. Also this year we will not be raising money for school based projects but all money that we raise as a class will go to our class charities, so the money we raise as a class will go to Street Life. We are asking for £1 donation (single coins again please) rather than the usual sponsored event. Children are asked to wear their PE kits and trainers on this day.

· Our Party Day this year is on Thursday 17th December. Children can wear their party clothes on this day and can bring a treat (chocolate bar or a packet of crisps) and a drink (not fizzy please) for their snack on this day. This year our parties will be based in the classroom but we will be having lots of fun and playing party games. (Please remember that children will be playing out at playtime and will need their coats and sensible shoes.) We will also be enjoying our school Christmas dinner cooked by our lovely Jacqui on this day (or packed lunch if your child has packet lunches—maybe you could try to make this a bit Christmassy!! Thanks)

· Please can I remind you about the Home School Agreement form. If you have not yet completed this form please complete and submit it asap. We are still awaiting responses from a number of families. Many thanks.

· Please make sure that you look at the home learning page for this week’s home learning. This should be completed by next Thursday.  This week’s learning is COMPUTER BASED. Many thanks.

· We break up from school next Friday 18th December for Christmas. Marsden and Harcourt 12:45pm as usual. Bamber and Plessington at 1pm as usual.

Thank you for all your continued support and co-operation this throughout the term. Another successful week!

We hope that you have a lovely weekend and have a chance to share some time together as a family.

In Year 3

At this Christmas when Christ comes, will He find a warm heart? Mark the season of Advent by loving and serving the others with God's own love and concern.

November 27, 2020 Guest User

Another busy week in Year 3, with lots of learning and co-operating with others.

This week in RE we have been thinking about the choices that we make and the choice that Mary made when she said “Yes” to God.  We have started to think about our journey through Advent and have made our Advent Promises, thinking about what we are going to do during Advent as our gift for Jesus. In English this week we have made predictions and written what we think the next part of the story will be. We have been writing what different people have said using inverted commas. In maths this week, we have continued with our adding and subtracting and we have been bridging different hundreds. We have been practising counting in tens and bridging those hundreds. We are getting so much more confident and more proficient at doing this. (Keep practising at home too please). In Science we have continued with our topic of electricity and have been making and drawing simple circuits. Have a look at the photos below.

In Year 3

“It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.”

November 20, 2020 Guest User

Another exciting week of learning in Year 3.

This week we have had our Autumn Internet Safety Day. We have thought about how to stay safe on line and also about what we should do to report an incident if we are not happy with what has happened to us on line. The children made super posters and wonderful E-Safety Heroes. We have also been busy reading  and looking at vocabulary in our English. We have been thinking about speech and what people have said. We have been spotting this and thinking about how they have said it too. (Keep spotting speech when you are reading—look out for the inverted commas “ …”) Again in PE we have been working together as a teams. Our challenges today included working together to make different letters of the alphabet and untangling ourselves as a group from the knot. Again the children had to work together like little Roger Robins, to solve the problems. In maths this week, we have continued with our adding and subtracting. We are getting so much faster at recalling number facts too. (Keep practising) In Science we have been thinking about different uses of electricity. (See the home learning for a bit extra on this).

Let’s Celebrate:

This week our certificates go to Tabby and Angel.  Both children received Bobby Bee certificates for their enthusiasm in class. Angel you have been so much more enthusiastic and ready to learn this week. You have also been much more organised. Well done. Tabby, you are always so enthusiastic and ready to do your work. You are also a kind and considerate learning partner. Well done! I am also so proud of Ruby-Lilly who received Jacqui’s Marvellous Manners certificate this week. Well done Ruby-Lilly..

We are delighted that  Stanley, Nicola, Evan, Tabby, Iris, Angel, Leo, Matilda, Max and Ruby-Lilly have achieved 100% of their reading target this week. Well done children. You have been so focused when it comes to your reading and you have worked really hard, reading lots of books.  I know we have another big group of children who are almost reaching their target and with all the reading that I know they will do over the weekend and next week, I am sure that we will have lots more children to celebrate next week. Well done children—keep up the good work.

Things to Note:

·We have been talking in class council this week about what we would like to do to raise money for our chosen charity, Street Life, this Christmas time. The children have decided that they would like to do a Christmas Jumper Run. More details to follow next week.

Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.

November 13, 2020 Guest User

This week we have had some lovely prayer and liturgy time thinking about humility. We have thought about how we can put others before ourselves in our thoughts, actions, words and prayers.

Again in PE we have been working together as a team. We had another very exciting lesson this morning with a variety of challenges where the children had to be like little Roger Robins, working together to solve the problems. In maths this week, we have continued with our adding and subtracting. We have also been trying to recall number facts quickly so that we don’t have to work them out. (How fast can you do it?) In English, we have been expanding our vocabulary and looking up the meaning of different words in the dictionary. We have made predictions about what we think might have happened and what is going to happen. In History we have looked at the ancient settlement of Skara Brae and found out what life was like there.

Let’s Celebrate:

This week our certificates go to Max and Millie.  Both children received Cooper Crab certificates because they have been really focused this week. Max you have been really focusing on what you have been asked to do and doing it straight away. This has meant that you have been much more organised this week and ready to do your learning. You have been amazing! Keep up the good work. Millie, you are always so focused and ready to do you work and you manage your distractions well. You are also a kind and considerate learning partner. Well done! We are also so proud of Edi who received Jacqui’s Marvellous Manners certificate this week. Well done Edi.

We are delighted that Jay and Owen (second time this term for Owen with a very high target set) have achieved 100% of their reading target already. Well done boys. You are so focused when it comes to your reading and you have worked really hard, reading lots of books.  I am also so proud to say that we have a big group of children who are almost reaching their target and with all the reading that I know they will do over the weekend and next week, I am sure that we will have lots more children to celebrate next week. Well done children—keep up the good work.

November 6, 2020 Guest User

I hope that you all had a lovely week and managed to enjoy some time together as a family.

The children have settled down well into their learning again and we have had a lovely week.

Today in PE we started our team building unit. This was very exciting with lots of different challenges which the children were so enthusiastic to work together on. What fantastic Roger Robins we have—there was so much co-operation and focus in how they solved the different problems. Well done children. In maths this week, we have continued with our adding and subtracting. Regular fluency lessons are also ensuring that the children are practising and over learning the skills. In English, we have started our new topic which will see us looking at the text The Green Children and the also The Greenling. This has been most exciting and has generated lots of ideas, talk and questions. What curious Clara Clownfish and enthusiastic Bobby Bees we have been!. All children have had their reading targets reset and some children have also received new ZPDs. The children have been so enthusiastic about their reading. It has been wonderful to feel the buzz that is happening in the classroom when it comes to reading! Well done children—keep up the good work. We have some children who are so enthusiastic about their reading that they have already reached their reading target for the term!! (They have done this by reading lots during half term and then quizzing on what they have read.) In Science the children have started their new topic of electricity. A very busy and exciting week with lots of enthusiastic and curious children.

Let’s Celebrate:

This week our certificates go to Molly-Ann and Leo.  Leo receives a Bobby Bee certificate because he is always so enthusiastic during learning. You are always so bubbly and ready to learn Leo and you are trying so hard with all of your work. You always join in and have so much to offer. Well done, keep up the good work!   Molly-Ann receives a Lizzie Ladybird certificate because she keeps trying to improve her work. You always listen carefully to advice and try to make improvements in your work. You are also looking carefully at what you have done and trying to spot where you can improve independently too. Well done.

Harvey received Role Model of the week for lunchtime. Well done Harvey. It is great to be a good role model,

We are delighted that Evan, Owen and Leo have achieved 100% of their reading target already. Well done boys. You have done a super job with your reading. I have reset their targets with a very tricky challenge and all three of them are determined to try to reach them again before the end of this half term. The children are all determined to climb up the rainbow faster this half term and what a fabulous start we have had.

Things to Note:

  • To make things easier for you if your child is off school due to illness, we have created an online form for you to complete. This form can be found on the Discover page, Attendance and there is a button at the bottom which says REPORTING AN ILLNESS. Please complete the form and submit it in the case of illness. We hope that this helps. Thank you.

  • As the weather gets colder, please make sure that children are wearing multiple layers for school. We need to keep the windows /door open as much as we can for ventilation and the classroom can get quite cold. We have discussed this in class and suggested sweatshirt/ cardigan plus tracksuit top, vests and t.shirts under school t.shirts etc. Thank you.

  •  Please can I remind you about the Home School Partnership form which I sent the link for with your child’s mid term report. If you have not yet completed this form please complete and submit it asap. Many thanks. (Click on the button below)

I can’t believe we have arrived at half term already. Time just seems to have flown by. They say” time flies when you are having fun” and that is just what we have done but there has been so much work done too. Well done children, I am so proud of you all.

This morning I have sent you all a mid-term report for your child and at the bottom is a link to the Home School Agreement form which we would like you to complete and submit

sometime during the holiday. (Thank you so much to the two families who have already done this - you are amazing!)

This week we had a lovely class council when we decided that we would like to raise some money throughout the year to help the homeless. We decided that Street Life would be a deserving charity. The children thought that maybe they could do some jobs over half term for you, to raise donations . We will have a collection pot in class throughout the year. We will be doing different events during the year to support Street Life. Thank you for your support.

Let’s celebrate:

Well done to Matilda, Jay, Nicola and Rosa who have achieved their reading targets this week and also to Owen, Evan, Iris and Franek who have achieved their reading target again.

Well done also to Millie who was role model of the week at lunch time.

Well done to Angel who was French Star in this week’s French lesson.

Well done children you are all stars!

Have a lovely half term and a well deserved rest.

Take care and stay safe

Another lovely week with lots of super learning and children being enthusiastic,  curious and creative in their work.

In maths this week, we have been doing lots of adding and subtracting, thinking about whether we are adding to the ones or the tens. Regular fluency lessons are also ensuring that the children are practising and over learning the skills. In English, we have written diaries as the Crow from the fable of the Crow and the Fox. We have also continued to think about complex sentences creating complex sentences using because, if and when. We have also been trying to focus on our handwriting this week and earn some pen licence points. (Handwriting is on the homework this week too. Don’t forget you can earn pen licence points for homework too). In history we have been looking at some of the changes that took place for Stone Age man as they began to farm the land. In RE we have been thinking about being part of the Christian family and what that means for us. We have been thinking about how we become part of the Christian family. In Science the children have been classifying different groups of animals, they have been using research to find out the names of different bones and they have also learned how muscles contact and relax to help us to move. Make sure that they show you their paper muscle and ask them to explain what is happening.  In computing the children have been researching and also practising their typing skills. We are very pleased to say that we have some budding typists in our class. Keep up the good work children A great week of learning children, well done. This week has also been our turn to use the trim trail which was so exciting. Make sure that you have a look at our lovely photos.

Let’s Celebrate:

This week our certificates go to Georgia and Rosa.  Rosa receives a Bobby Bee certificate for her enthusiasm during learning. You are always so enthusiastic and ready to learn Rosa and you are trying so hard. Well done!   Georgia receives a Resilient Sadie Spider certificate for the way that she has kept on trying and trying and has not been giving up when things have got tricky. It has been lovely to see how you have been getting better and better because you have not given up. Well done Georgia—keep up the good work.

We are also delighted that Connor Sean, Leo (again),  Max and Ruby Lilly have achieved 100% of their reading target this week. Well done. You have done a super job with your reading. We have reset their targets and all of them are determined to try to reach them again before half term. I am sure that by next week we will be celebrating even more children who will have reached their targets too as we have a whole host of children who are in the 80s. Targets for all children will be reset after the half term holiday.

We are so proud of the children and their enthusiasm for learning. Keep up the good work children and keep trying. I know that we will succeed this year if you keep trying as hard as you are.

In maths this week, we have been solving problems and explaining our reasons. We have also been adding and subtracting. In English, we have read the fable of the Crow and the Fox and thought about the different characters and their feelings. We have been gathering wonderful vocabulary to use when we write next week. We have continued written complex sentences and also looked at the determiners a or an. In RE, we have thought about the Church family and about our parish and diocese. We have also looked at the Rosary and how October is a special month for the Rosary. We will be saying the Rosary throughout the month of October, maybe you could try this at home too. In Science the children have  been classifying vertebrates and invertebrates and researching bones to answer questions. A great week of learning children, well done.

Let’s Celebrate:

This week our certificates go to Christian and Owen.  Christian receives a Bobby Bee certificate for his enthusiasm during learning. You are trying so hard Christian and you are so excited about all of your work. It is so lovely to see your hand up so often and how you are so enthusiastic about answering questions. (You have great typing skills too.) Well done! We know that you are going to have a brilliant year if you keep this up.  Owen receives a Co-operative Roger Robin certificate, you have been a super learning partner this week Owen. Thank you. You are always so enthusiastic and focused in class too and you love to share your thoughts and ideas. Well done. Keep up the good work.

We are also delighted that Evan, Leo and Franek have achieved 100% of their reading target this week. Well done boys. This is fabulous news. God’s love is everywhere we go/

We have had more wonderful learning again this week. Well done children.

We have had some wonderful reading this week. Most children are reading and quizzing well and making good progress towards their targets. Next week, I think that we might even have a few more children reaching 100% of their targets  - which is well before half term when we expect targets to be reached.  Watch this space!!! I can’t wait to celebrate. In maths this week we have continued to compare numbers and to think about the place value. In English, we have continued to look at fables thinking about the different characters and what they were thinking. In science the children have been finding out all about skeletons and bones. Have a look at some of the photos of their science work below. RHE this week, we have been thinking about ourselves and our feelings, knowing that we are all special and loved. We have shared more stories about Kester and thought about how we can pull out the weeds in our hearts so that we can change and become better people. We have continued to reflect upon how Kester and Abraham are similar to ourselves and our relationship with God.  We have thought a lot about God’s love this week and how wonderful it is to be loved by God, no matter where we are.

Congratulations to Nicola and her family on the birth of your new little brother. What a special time it is for all of you.

This week our certificates go to Fran and Evan.  Fran receives a Co-operative Roger Robin certificate because she is always willing and happy to help others in class. Thank you Fran for your kindness and generous support towards all of us. Evan receives a Sadie Spider certificate for being resilient and not giving up on something when it got tricky. It was lovely to see your pleasure when you realised how well you did Evan. Make sure that you keep on trying and know that you can do it if you have a go and keep trying. Well done children.

A huge well done to Iris who is the first in the class to reach her 100% reading target.

It also makes us so proud to say that we got the Table of the Week in the hall this week. Well done children. We  are also very proud of Connor Sean who received lunchtime’s Role Model of the week.

We have also managed 100% attendance this week too. So well done everyone. What a wonderful week of celebrations.

Things to Note:

As the weather is getting colder, please make sure that your child has a jumper/cardigan to wear in class - we are opening windows for ventilation. Also please make sure that they have a coat for playtimes.

Please make sure that all personal belongings are clearly named so that items can be easily identified and returned to their owners, especially water bottles/snack pots and cardigans/sweatshirts/tracksuit tops. Thank you.

Please make sure that you look at the home learning page for this week’s home learning. Please make sure that this is completed by next Thursday and home learning books are returned to school.  This week’s learning is mainly BOOK BASED. Many thanks.

Please ensure that you have completed an up to date medical form following the link which has been emailed to you. It really does only take a couple of minutes to do. Be generous in all that you do.

Be generous in all that you do.

We have had another lovely week with lots hard work and children who have been trying so hard to do their best.  I am so proud of the children’s enthusiasm and desire to do well and I know that we will have a wonderful year of learning if this continues. Well done children.

We have been thinking carefully about being generous and grateful in our daily actions and we have continued to share the daily Examen. At the end of each day we reflect upon the day and think about all of the things that we would like to say “Thank you” for.

This week we have been comparing numbers and finding 1, 10 or 100 more or less than a given number. In English, we have read the fable of the Lion and the Mouse and thought about the different characters and also the setting. We have continued to identify different parts of sentences and also identified vowels and consonants. In RE, we have thought about our own families and about Jesus and His family. We have thought about the sort of things that we do as a family and what Jesus would have done with His family. We have written about happy and sad times that we have shared together as families. In RHE this week, we have continued to think about ourselves and our feelings, knowing that we are all special and loved. We have looked at how our actions impact not only on ourselves but also on others and how this makes us feel. We have shared stories about Kester and looked at how his behaviour had an impact on so many other people.  We have reflected upon how Kester and Abraham are similar to ourselves and our relationship with God.

What dream do you have to make the world a better place?

What dream do you have to make the world a better place?

We are really settling into the routine of work and already there have been many improvements and lots of thing that have been learned. It is so lovely to see children who are striving hard to take responsibility for their learning and who are becoming more and more like the learning characters each day.

All children have now completed their Star Reading tests and have been given their new ZPD and reading targets. (We have stuck a little sheet in the front of their reading record book (little green book) so that you can see new ZPDs and targets. Please make sure all reading books and reading record books are returned to school on a daily basis. Thank you

At the end of each day, we have continued to share the daily Examen and reflected on our day. We have thought about the things that have happened throughout the day and also whether they have been things that have made us and others happy or whether they have been things that we are sorry that we have done because they have hurt ourselves or others. Each day we think about what we would like to say “Thank you” for.

We have continued to look at “Numbers to 1000,” counting objects, ordering numbers and thinking where to find a number on a number line to 1,000. In English we have been looking at sentences making sure that we are writing them correctly so that they make sense and use correct punctuation. We have continued to identify different parts of a sentences. We have also started to look at complex sentences and how these are written. In RE, we have thought about the Creation story and all of the things that God created. We have discussed how to look after God’s world and we have written some lovely prayers to thank God for all of the things that He created. We have continued to think about ourselves and our feelings, knowing that we are all special and loved.  This week we have thought about our dreams for our class, our school,  our families, our town, country and the world. The children all shared a lovely dream for the class and we have discussed how we can all work together to help our dreams to be achieved. How lovely it will be if we can achieve all of our dreams. This week we have started our history topic about the Stone Age. The children have been so enthusiastic and we can’t wait to explore the topic further. In science the children have started their topic of living things and their environment.

Our dreams for our class

This week our certificates go to Lily-Mae and Daisy.  Lily-Mae receives a Concentrating Cooper Crab certificate for being so focused on her work and for really thinking carefully and trying so hard with all of her work. Lovely neat handwriting as well! Well done Lily-Mae, I know that you are going to have an amazing year if you keep this up.  Daisy receives a Co-operative Roger Robin certificate for being such a wonderful caring member of the class who is always ready and willing to help others, whether it is her learning partner or just generally within the class. Thank you so much Daisy, keep up these kind deeds. We are all so grateful for your help. We are also proud to say that Charlie got the lunchtime Role Model of the Week Well done Charlie - what a good example you have set.

Things to Note:

We have had another lovely week and the children have been so enthusiastic and eager to engage in their learning.

We would like to say another big “Thank you” to all of you -  you have made coming in to school and going home run really smoothly and we really appreciate this in school.  We are still missing a few emails giving consent for photos on the website. If you have not yet sent us an email, please could you do this as soon as possible - we are sorry that we have not been able to put all of the child’s photos on the website this week but hope that you will email us your consent soon.

Please email both myself and Miss Edmondson:

The children have been very focused during lessons this week and they have amazed us with their concentration and enthusiasm for learning.

We have now managed to do most of our Star Reading tests and children have been given their new ZPD and reading targets. (We have stuck a little sheet in the front of their reading record book (little green book) so that you can see new ZPDs and targets—however some children have not had their green books in school but we will stick these sheets in as soon as the books are brought into school.) Please make sure all reading books and reading record books are returned to school on a daily basis. Thank you

We have continued to think about ourselves and our feelings and knowing that we are all special and loved.  We have thought about the qualities that you need to keep trying even when things become difficult and we have shared the story of the Hare and the Tortoise We are really trying to spot all of the times that we are doing these things in class.  Keep up the good work children.

At the end of each day, we have continued to share the daily Examen and reflected on our day. We have thought about the things that have happened throughout the day and also whether they have been things that have made us and others happy or whether they have been things that we are sorry that we have done because they have hurt ourselves or others. We have also shared our gratitude for the things that have happened each day—and we have realized that we need to be grateful for so many things. We are so lucky!

We have continued to look at “Numbers to 1000” and started looking at counting in 100s and building numbers to 1000 using 100s, 10s and 1s. The children have been really focused with their maths. Have a look at the class photos for this week and see how busy we have been making different numbers.

On Wednesday the children continued to explore different pieces of music, thinking about mood, speed, instruments etc. They were very focused and enthusiastic with this and tried hard to share their thoughts and ideas about the different pieces of music.

We hope that you enjoy these photos of us learning.

Let’s Celebrate

Again this week it has been incredibly hard to have to choose just two children to receive our certificates but I am delighted to say that we have decided to give the certificates to  Ruby-Lilly and Jay.  Ruby-Lilly receives a Co-operative Roger Robin certificate for being so kind and helpful within the class. She is always ready to help others and keep our classroom looking neat and tidy. Well done Ruby-Lilly, we are so grateful for all of your help. What a fabulous start to the year - we know that you will try to keep this up throughout the year.  Jay receives a Cooper Crab certificate for his focus. You have concentrated so well in all of our lessons Jay and you have been a super learner. You have been on fire and we have all been so impressed with all of your work this week Jay. Well done - keep up the good work. Matilda received Jacqui’s Marvellous Manners certificate this week. Well done Matilda—manners cost us nothing but they mean so much to others.

Last week, the children wrote and shared short speeches in class in a bid to become our Class Councillors for this year. After voting for each other, we are very proud to announce Millie and Charlie as our new Class Councillors. Well done to both of you, we know that you will do a fantastic job of helping to lead our class. Well done also to everyone for their lovely speeches.

Things to Note:

  • Please make sure that you look at the home learning page for this week’s home learning. Home learning will be posted on the website and should be sent back to school by the following Thursday.  Many thanks.

  • Please make sure that you have watched the induction video (posted Friday 28th August) on the class web page so that you are aware of procedures and important things to be aware of in Year 3.

  • If your child has a cold, please could you send them to school with a packet of tissues. Many thanks.

  • Please could you also ensure that you have sent the “Who is picking up?” sheet back to school.

  • Please complete the medical forms following the link which has been emailed to you. (If you have not sent us an email address we have not been able to send this to you yet. Please make sure that we have an email address to correspond with you with asap. Many thanks.)

Fly high and reach your targets…

Fly high and reach your targets…

and what a joy this week has been!

The children have been amazing and have quickly settled back into school life. They are being very flexible and adapting well to our new routines. Watching their happy faces and listening to their excited chatter has been a real treat! We are really looking forward to the rest of the year and all of the wonderful experiences and learning that it will bring.

Can I also say a big “Thank you” to all of you -  you have made coming in to school and going home run really smoothly and we really appreciate this in school.  Thank you also for all of the emails that you have sent to both Miss Edmondson and myself giving your consent for your child’s photos to go on the class web page. If you have not yet sent us an email, please could you do this as soon as possible - we are sorry that we have not been able to put all of the child’s photos on the website this week but hope that you will email us your consent before next week so that we can share photos of all of our lovely work.

Please email both myself and Miss Edmondson:

k.edmondson@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk

We have been very busy this week and really tried hard in all of our lessons so far.  Well done children! We can’t believe how fast the time has gone.

The children have all chosen a reading book from our classroom library and taken them home to read (please make sure that these are returned each day—any books that need to be changed will be quarantined before being sent home with another child.) Next week we will be sharing new ZPDs with the children, so until then the children are just choosing books which they like the look of.

We have completed lots of RHE work this week, thinking about ourselves and our feelings and knowing that we are all special and loved.  We have thought about our own talents and shared things that we think others are good at too.

At the end of each day, we have done the daily Examen and reflected on our day. We have thought about the things that have happened throughout the day and also whether they have been things that have made us and others happy or whether they have been things that we are sorry that we have done because they have hurt ourselves or others. We have also shared our gratitude for the things that have happened each day. We have also thought about what it means to be generous and how we can be generous towards others.

We have started on our maths topic of “Numbers to 1000” and started looking at counting in 100s and building numbers to 1000 using 100s, 10s and 1s.

On Wednesday the children listened so carefully to different pieces of music during their music lesson and really impressed Miss Mallinson and myself with their focus and knowledge. Well done everyone!

This week it has been very hard to have to choose just two children to receive our certificates but I am delighted to say that we have decided to give the certificates to Harvey and Iris. Harvey receives a Bobby Bee certificate for being so enthusiastic and excited about being back at school and about all of his work at school.  What a fabulous start to the year Harvey - we know that you will try to keep this up throughout the year.  Iris also receives a Bobby Bee certificate for her enthusiasm and positive attitude this week. You have smiled so much and enjoyed everything about school this week Iris - you have really made all of us smile too!. What super role models you have  both been this week. Well done!

Please make sure that you look at the home learning page for this week’s home learning. Home learning will be posted on the website and should be sent back to school by the following Thursday.  Many thanks.

Please make sure that you have watched the induction video (posted last Friday) on the class web page so that you are aware of procedures and important things to be aware of in Year 3.

Please could you also ensure that you have sent the “Who is picking up?” sheet back to school.

Please make sure that your child has a named water bottle in school each day so that they can keep hydrated.

Thank you for all your support and co-operation this week. Together we have made it a great success!

Just before you go … take a look at the photos of the things that we have been doing this week.

Well, we have made it to the end of the school year and what a funny one it has been! When you started the Year with Mrs Harrison who would have thought that we would end the year with Miss Edmondson and Miss Brisco setting daily work from their sofas or kitchen tables! All those videos and emails filmed and sent backwards and forwards, the texts and even phone calls to celebrate how well you have all done.

The Year 3 team has grown and changed but from all of us we want to say a big well done and thank you, it has been fun and a learning curve for us all. You are amazing!

Tomorrow there will be a whole school blog of challenges so please make sure you check that out.

We say ‘Goodbye for now’ and we will look forward to seeing you back at school in September, enjoy your long and hopefully hot summer holidays. Be kind, be happy and be wonderful!

Lot of love

The Year 3 team.
