Good morning Year 6 and welcome to our final half term - SERVICE WITH A SMILE! Now more than ever, I am looking to you to ensure that your final term at Our Ladys is one that has service at the centre. If we were in school, you would be serving your school community and giving back for all of the love and support they have provided you for your primary school journey. I still want all of this to happen and you will have little tasks throughout this half term - keep your eyes peeled. House Captains and Sports Captains, it starts with you this week!

Welcome Back Year 2!
I hope that you all had a restful but fun half term holiday and enjoyed the Health and Happiness activities last week. You all certainly looked healthy and happy in your photographs which was great to see! This week we are back to learning and I know that you are going to love some of the activities I have planned.
As usual, each day I will be posting the English and Maths activities for you to complete. Then don’t forget to keep checking back here for your weekly tasks. Any documents or websites needed are attached below.
I hope you all have a wonderful week of learning!
Missing you all lots,
Miss Woodend
Year 4 Monday 8th June Home Learning
Welcome to your final half term in Year 4! We still have a lot to do in this final half term - so make sure you are focused like Cooper Crab and Don’t give up like Sadie Spider. First, watch my little video below which just explains a few things you need to know this half term. I will try to make one video each week which explains the coming week and what I expect.
English
We are going to try out some of the special Lancashire English units for the next 2 weeks. Next week’s one is all about David Walliams!
This week you will be exploring people who inspire us. Delve into facts and find out why these people are
inspirational. You’ll also have a chance to think about who inspires you too and make your own ‘Inspiration Book’.
Read and enjoy opening extracts from the following books in a series by Kate Pankhurst about several inspirational women. (You will need to become a member of LoveReading4Kids. Membership is free).
As you read, note down unfamiliar vocabulary and use a dictionary/thesaurus to find out what new words mean. Word hippo is a good one!
Select two or three of your favourite texts read today. Create some charts showing key information and/or mind maps. For example, you could scan the texts to find important dates and create a chart such as the one below.
Alternatively, you could create a mind map, noting all the key information you have read about one of the inspirational people.
Maths
It is time to move on to decimals! The secret is that decimals are just fractions in numerical form! This is why we learned all about fractions first!
I would like you to watch and join in with the videos from White Rose maths to learn about decimals. It is important that you listen carefully, join in properly and pause the screen to complete activities when the online teacher asks you to. You may want to complete them with an adult nearby to help.
Today please watch Week 1 (not Summer) Lesson 1 Recognise Tenths and Hundredths then complete the sheets below it. Finally, mark it using the answer sheet. Ask a grown up if stuck.
Year 3 Monday 8th June 2020 home learning
Can you guess which book this is image is showing us?
Welcome back to Summer half term 2, we hope you enjoyed your half term holidays and then a great week of Health and Happiness activities. Today we will continue with our home learning in the same format as last half term.
Reading
Over the holidays some children took the opportunity to make a voyage into a far away land by reading a book. I went back in time to 1880 and travelled to London as I read my latest book, a bit of a spooky thriller! My favourite spot to read was an old fashioned deck chair in my garden. Where was yours? Mason, Abi and Lexi must have found a quiet place to read as they all met their reading targets. Great work children!
Spellings
Your new spellings are possession, pressure, purpose, quarter, question and regular. Please spend some time practising them ready for a quiz later in the week.
English
Our new focus is going to be on the brilliant story of ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, did you guess correctly? Please click below for today’s challenges.
Maths
Today we start a new topic ‘Multiplication and division’ and I have tried a new way of working too, below is a video which I would like you to work through. Pause the video when I set you a challenge and work in your maths book as you have been doing.
Here is the link to a game you will need in today’s maths. You may need to copy and paste it into Internet Explorer as I’m afraid it doesn’t open on Google Chrome for me for some reason. Choose the 6 digit whole numbers option on the main screen.

PE
Look out for the PE challenges on the PE page, have fun and keep active!
Geography
As we move into a new half term we move on to a new topic ‘Investigating our local area’. Please click below for what you will be up to today.

Welcome back. I know that this week is not going to be what some of you expected but I hope that you are all ready for some more exciting learning.
I hope that you all had a lovely half term with your families and enjoyed the Health and Happiness activities. Here are the learning activities for today. Have fun!!
Everyday activities:
1. Phonics:
Today I would like you to watch the set 1 and set 2 speed sounds, by clicking on the button:
2. Oxford Owl:
Login to Oxford Owl and read your next book. Remember to discuss the story throughout, checking your child’s understanding. Please make a note of any sounds or tricky words that your child struggles with and focus on these throughout the next few days/until they know them.
3. PE:
Please see this week’s set of new lessons and activities (click on week 7 for this week’s timetable)
Today’s specific activities:
1. Owl Babies
Listen to and enjoy the reading of Owl Babies here:
Listen to the story again, this time pausing to talk about what happens on each page.
Questions you might like to discuss may include: How many owl babies were there? What were their names? What did they think might have happened to their mother? How do you think they were feeling? What did Bill keep saying all the way through the story? What was your favourite part of the story? Why?
I would like you to draw or paint the three owl babies.
Can you label them with their names? Can you write a sentence about each of the owl babies? (Please encourage your child to use their phonics to help them with their spelling.)
2. Maths: The Snail and the Whale
White Rose: Please go onto the White Rose website and begin on Summer term Week 6 (1st June)
Watch the short video/ presentation and have a go at the activities.
3. RE:
This term we are going to be thinking about the Church as the family of God.
Do you remember the names of any of Jesus’ friends?
Jesus’ friends told everyone the Good News about Jesus and lots of people listened. They wanted to be like Jesus and do the things that He did. Watch the video clip about Peter and the other believers.
Cut out some pictures of people from magazines or draw pictures of different people. Write the heading: ‘We are all part of God’s Family’
Can you remember what the early Christians did together? Can you try to do these things too?
I hope that you have a lovely day!
Take care and stay safe,
Miss Brisco
Don’t forget to send photos of your learning to me and I will share them at the end of the week.

Half term is here already, a little break and rest from our Home Learning. Everyone has worked so hard and adapted to this strange situation, it really has been a joy to see all your lovely art activities and the creative side of your family life. During half term, I will post one (each year group) recipe we would have done in Food Tech this last half term, if you want to, why not have a go at home…

The children in Year 5 have been busy climbing their stairs at home. Jayden worked out how many times we would have to climb the stairs for us to reach the top of Mount Everest. We think we have done it!! The children who got involved raised money for “Amazing Grace” food bank in Blackpool! Pray in action!!!

To all Year 4 parents and children,
These last 10 weeks , although challenging, have also been ones of great achievement, self-reflection and growth. I have loved seeing you learn together with your families and I have been truly touched by all your wonderful efforts. It has been a privilege to lead your learning during this time and we have had great fun- I loved all your limericks this week and now I can’t stop rhyming! Thank you for sharing all your lovely work and your family experiences with me over the past few weeks. Children - I miss you a lot but I am very proud of you. Parents, thank you for working in partnership with us to provide the best possible learning experiences in this strange time!
Next week, we are all having a week off. A rest! There will be no home learning but I advise you tick along with that reading (in the sunshine hopefully) The following week, is our Health and Happiness week. There will be lovely activities you can carry out with your siblings/family to help keep us healthy and happy.
Have a great week together and thank you all for engaging so fully. Here is a little video of this week’s experiences:
'We must take adventures to know where we truly belong.'
This year has been one big adventure, and even more so during these last 10 weeks. Adventures improve our communication, resilience, problem solving and we take more risks. I really hope that all of these skills have been developing and that the children will take these with them through their life.
