Please log on to TT Rocks stars and practise your times tables - We’re looking forward to moving your guitars along our TT Rock Stars display! We will be checking that everyone has logged on and practised their 4 times table. Don’t forget to put your 4 Times Table poster up somewhere at home. The more you practise, the more confident you will be!

We have been using our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to help us add multiples of 10 to 100. Complete the bar models and equations in your homework books.

DANCE ARRANGEMENTS

The time is here and we have now finished our dance, we are so excited to share it with you all. Here are the arrangements for next Monday …

Costumes should be at school now (black top, leggings/trousers and optional tutu for girls), left at school ready to take to the Winter Gardens on Monday- this will avoid any left behind on the day!

We will leave school at 1pm by coach to the Winter Gardens, where 3 members of staff will be taking the group and satying with them in to the evening. The children will be there all afternoon, to allow time to practise and go through the show. Therefore, they will need to bring a packed lunch for their evening meal. We recommend that they have a school lunch before they go, to ensure they have a hot dinner before a long afternoon/evening. Snacks throughout the event are welcomed, but please no sweets/ chocolate and no fizzy drinks, although one juice is permitted. As it is a long afternoon, with waiting time, please feel free to pack a good book, any homework to complete and maybe a puzzle/ colouring book to keep them busy (no electrical devices or aything of value). Children will not be able to see any of the audience before or during the show.

Once the show has finished, children will then go backstage to collect their belongs and then we will take them to our school’s pick up point outside the entrance to the ‘Floral Lounge Bar’within the Winter Garden’s building, so please meet us there. Please make sure you tell us when you take your child, to ensure a safe transition as it does get very busy!I will have all mobile contact numbers in case there are any problems, so  please ensure you have your mobiles with you on the night. Please fill in the form below to let us know who will be taking your child home on the evening:

Doors open to the public on the evening at 6pm- make sure you have your tickets. The anticipated finsihing time is 9:30pm.

Children can wear their PE kits this day. Please make sure yoy pack plenty of water and if your child needs an inhaler, please ensure they have this. We will also door hair in the afternoon, so pack a brush!

Year 5 Eco Trip to Hope Park- Thursday 9th November

On Thursday, we will be going to Hope Park in the morning to plant bulbs as a part of our eco duties. Children are to come to school in their school polos, with their PE hoody, some tracksuit bottoms, an old pair of trainers and a waterproof coat. Everyone will need to bring their school trousers/skirts, along with their school shoes in a separate bag for our assembly later that afternoon.

Year 5 Weekly Blog 03.11.23- Success is steady progress towards ones personal goals'

For what felt like longer than a week, we are back in school after half term and back straight into our learning. It was brilliant to see the children again, some looking very bronzed after their week abroad, and it was brilliant to see them just jump straight back into their learning. We have started many new topics across our curriculum so the children have been full of curiosity as they tackle many new tasks.

In English, our topic is myths and legends. We have been exploring some popular legend stories such as ‘The Loch Ness Monster’ and ‘George and the Dragon’. We have compared different legend stories to other books/films that relate to these and made connections between them.

In Maths, we are continuing with our topic of place value but have been exploring the world of decimals. W have been looking at tenths and hundredths and the value of these compared to the values we already know- such as ones, tens, hundreds etc.

As the weather continues to pour down, we were left with no choice but to have another indoor PE lesson. Some improvisation left us with some table tennis, HIIT stations and just dance.

Let’s Celebrate

Layla and Rafe for being focused and enthusiastic learners: As we have started the new half term, your focus has been super sharp during every subject we have covered this week, You are showing that you are really determined to learn and improve and you do this with such excitement towards your learning.

Brilliant job!

Erin for being a faithful learner: You haver not just been faithful this week but in everyday during our morning and lunchtime prayer. You are solemn, deep and respectful during our prayers and you really take that time to reflect.

Notices

  • Year 5 Assembly- Will take place on Thursday 9th November. The children will be performing the assembly twice, starting at 2:10pm and 2:35pm. If you haven’t done already, please can you bring in a coloured tie for which ever side you are on (red or blue).


  • Data Sheets- Please can all data sheets be brought back in ASAP. These were sent out earlier this week in a large envelope.


  • Football Tournament- The A Team have a football tournament on Tuesday. Details are available on the sports page.


  • Rememberance Poppies- We are still collecting home made poppies for our chapel display. These are to be water proof as they are to be hung up on the outside of the chapel.


  • Dance Festival- Will take place Monday 13th November. More information is available on the sports page.

This week...

I hope that everyone has had a lovely half term break and has managed to get some family time. Thank you to those who have sent in photos of their adventures.

What a soggy week! It’s been so wet nobody has wanted to play in the garden, we had to wait for little glimmers of sunshine and then race outside!!

We have devoted this week to firework safety and colour. The children have made the most wonderful splatter pictures using paint and also using a computer programme.

Emma’s Blog

Hello everyone. Welcome back. I hope you all had a wonderful half-term 

After our rest we have got straight back to growing our brains and this is what we have been up to. 

We have been learning about why we celebrate bonfire night and have talked about being safe when going to see a bonfire. To link in with our leaning, the children have had so much fun creating their own firework pictures by using watered down paint colours and flicking their paint brush onto paper whilst making the sounds of fireworks. There has been a lot of sparkles thrown in there too. The children have been busy making some fabulous sound's and art work.

We have also linked this in with looking at the 3 primary colours; red, yellow and blue, and talking about how the colours make new colours by mixing them together.  

You could make your own colour wheel spinner at home and watch how all the colours mix together when you spin yours. Its so much fun to make and watch.

This week we have started a new sound 't,d s'. As the children practice writing this sound, we say, 'slither down the snake'.

We have also moved on to learn a new number, 3. As the children learn to write 3, we say, 'make a curve just like me, then one more and you've got 3'. This really helps the children to understand how to form the numbers and letters.

As the cold weather is here, it's that time of year for coats, hats, gloves and scarfs. If you could please ensure you put their names inside their items as this will help the children to recognise their name and help to build their independence (as well as helping us of course!) this would be really helpful, thank you.

Michelle’s Blog

Hello everyone and welcome back after our half term break. 

Our learning continues this week as we have been exploring colour. We  learnt that there are 3 primary colours as we watched this video 

We have been very artistic as we have painted our firework pictures using florescent paint. We also made firework pictures on the interactive white board, trying to fill all the space with colour. We then learnt how to stay safe around fireworks, bonfires and sparklers. Remember sparklers are not recommended for young children.

We have worked really hard this week learning to write the number 3. We used the interactive white board as well as really long lengths of paper on the floor. If you are practising at home remember it's " make a curve just like me, then another one makes a 3". We have also explored how 2 plus another 1 makes 3 and have used our fingers to show this.

In PE we have continued to practise our hopping and our jumping as we had to collect different colour cones. We also wowed Mr Nay with our ball control as we rolled them along the floor to hit the cones. He could tell we have been practising.

We have also been practising our independence skills by putting our coats on and trying to do the zip up. Any practise that you can do at home getting dressed independently will benefit your child immensely.

Finally, we have met 2 new letter sounds this week 's' ‘d’ and 't'. As well as learning the sounds we are also learning how to write them. We are remembering to use our 'duck fingers' when writing.

On Wednesday we celebrated All Saints Day. First of all we had to find out what a Saint was. Click here to find out.

We all decided that it would be a good idea to try to be a Saint for the Day. It’s really tricky, we really wanted to be more like Jesus. We are going to try every day.

Travelling Nativity

Starting next Thursday each child will be coming home with a Travelling Nativity sack. It contains Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus along with a book about the birth of Christ. We want every child to have the opportunity to take this special sack home so your child will only be able to have it for one night. It is important to return the sack the following day to ensure nobody misses their turn. Thank you as always for being so understanding.

These are the Set 1 Speed Sounds written with one letter:

These are the sounds written with two letters (your child will call these ‘special friends’):

    This week we have been learning these sounds only m,s,t,a,d. If you could focus on these sounds that would be a great start. Remember ‘duck fingers’!!!

    I am sending home a Read Write Inc word mat and a Speed sound chart so that you will be able to follow our sequence of learning at nursery.

Maths Mastery

This week we met Number Three!

We have:

  • found out that 3 is one more than 2

  • been counting to 3

  • comparing numbers 1,2,and three -’bigger’ and ‘smaller’

  • ordering numbers 1 to 3

  • found out that 3 is made of 2 and 1

Christmas Nativity

This year the Foundation Stage Nativity is as follows.

Dress rehearsal for the whole school 5th December

Parents performances will be on the 6th and 7th December. These are a ticket only events with an allocation of 4 tickets per family over the two performances.

Remembrance Day Poppies

Sticker poppies are now on sale in nursery. Please send your donation in if you wish to help the Royal British Legion Charity.

Lastly, I am hopeful for a brighter weekend but as yet it is not looking too promising. Try and have a lovely weekend whatever the weather. If you are having fireworks at home or attending an organised event please keep safe.

Year 6 Weekly Blog 'Faith makes all things possible; Hope makes all things easy; Love makes all things work'.

Welcome back to our second half term together and this week has certainly gone with a bang! We have completed so much work in every single lesson, I really feel like we are flying! Thank you to all those parents who saw me on parents’ day. I always enjoy celebrating the children and to share just how well they have settled in to Year 6. We cannot ask the children to work any harder than they are doing, they just need to work smart too and produce the best work that they possibly can. Always use the opportunity to showcase just what you can do!

A Team Football Tournament- Tuesday 7th November

Year 5/6 Fylde Football Tournament

The boys playing in the A Team have a football tournament on Tuesday 7th November at AKS. The first match will kick off at 1:00pm. Therefore, the children will go in for their lunch at 12:00pm and will need to be picked up at 12:30pm and taken to AKS. The tournament will run from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
